leonardfan2010 'laugh out loud in public' has to be the most coveted feedback of all.
and, wow! you found the old novels - more

Anne. I'm half way through updating, renaming and rewriting the 1st novel. Can't bring myself to say the name, always hated the title and cover imposed on me by the publishers. 2nd one I'm a bit embarrassed about, too much sex I'm afraid.
I know it's a bit cheeky but this early stage of release is so critical (I'm hoping to attract a print publshier, Lizzy), if you could possibly put a Ten Good Reasons review up on Amazon with those magic laugh words I'd be eternally grateful. What am I saying, I already am eternally grateful.
Lizzy, you can get a free Kindle download for your PC, or the PDF from the website
www.blackbirdebooks.com is very screen-friendly, you can also transfer PDFs to your phones and some e-readers.
Thank you

again. x

I think that last portion is to help others because I have no phones beyond my landline, much less any e-readers

. THANK YOU for the info on the "easy" [for most at least... we'll see how it goes for me and Murphy's Law, or whichever law that is... but at least I know there's some level of hope! I so hope you get a print publisher! If all else fails, how about vanity print?

I have checked out Amazon's Print On Demand service but it looks like it's only for US subscribers at the moment. Hopefully that'll change or a print publisher will pick it up. Just had a lovely review here at
http://blogcritics.org/books/ which is headed
"A beautiful life interrupted, then healed by the songs of Leonard Cohen."

Oh, WoW... is that not EXACTLY what you would want a review to say

!!! Congratulations, LGS

!!!
And re: Amazon, I'm in the U.S. so that MAY be an option for me!
Thank you for the info... and I'll read the review you got this evening.

Not sure if you are still considering electronic download options but if you are, I would recommend Amazon's Kindle for PC. I've been using it for a few weeks now as I wanted to see how I got on with electronic books before I thought about buying a Kindle for travelling etc. It's free and easy to download and there are plenty of viewing options that you can fiddle around with to get the reading screen just as you want it.
Off to download Ten Good Reasons now!

Lizzy,
I've been searching around for the best solution to this. Finally cracked it today and it's now available as a paperback at
http://www.lulu.com/product/paperback/t ... e/15222827
with a brand new cover as well!
All best,

EXCELLENT, Mz. Soul!!! THANK YOU for your detectivizing

! I will be ordering one, too

... at last, a book to hold

!!
OK ~ Just ordered one. I'm going to see how Lulu does in getting it to me, since they can't guarantee orders that are made without a tracking method. And to make an order WITH a tracking method requires paying almost [in one case], if not more [in two cases], than the cost of the book, which I'm not willing to do... I'm sure hoping for the best.
For the record... I much prefer the original cover! But, oh well...

. At least the print itself will soon be on its way to me!

Wow, thanks Anne, Judy & Lizzy for ordering so FAST! I haven't had my proof copy yet so hoping it will all look OK. And hope the Lulu delivery works out. I investigated US sites but the lowest retail I could get was something like $18.00 PLUS delivery. Will keep researching and refining.
Interested in your comment re the cover, Lizzy. My partner agrees with you, he's quite upset. But I could see from 'customers also bought' on Amazon that it was representing the story as erotica, which is isn't. If anything EXOTICA : Sultry Hydra nights hmm...
Looking forward to your comments.

To me, the original cover focuses on being fully woman. To me, it connotes being true to oneself. A deeper look.
The replacement cover focuses on being a particular kind of woman. To me, it connotes kind of a manipulative type [it hearkens to "Mrs. Robinson" for me]. A shallower look. Reading the excerpts, I feel the deeper look is where the book really comes in at... now watch me be wrong

. Your partner's preference is a good sign on my not being that, though

.
[Now, granted, some ~ one in particular... oh, hi g...

] might jump in and say that being manipulative is a woman's trait, as well, perhaps even the overriding one

... but the original [albeit maybe more "erotica" is a healthier kind of take on "woman" to me... and, hopefully, that erotic sense of who we are gets more expression than any manipulation does].
Well, not sure if I've clarified anything here, or just muddied the waters... all said, I'm glad to hear that your partner agrees with me. The original is certainly a more visually compelling cover than the latter! I would think that a brief quotation printed on the front, or the first thing on the back, could easily work to place the book in its more proper category for any potential reader.
WoW... the prices you find yourself forced to deal with, eh?

Hi Stephanie,
After following this thread and reading the posts of members who already have read your book, it really perked my interest. Thank you for providing the link to purchase your book. I have just done so and am eagerly awaiting its arrival. Can't wait to start reading it!
Best regards,
Mary

Sorry you don't approve, Lizzy, the thing is, the instant snap first impression is visual and it was clear the wrong message was getting through. The next thing it would have been categorised in erotica & embarrassment in willy shops wouldn't quite have covered it for those readers.
Thanks Mary, that's great - I look forward to hearing what you think.
I got the proofs today and am loving them! There are a few errors in the page layout and cover logo to sort out but it's all there in smooth, paperback print and shiny cover. Annoyingly for those who've now bought, they also sent me a discount code which gives 25% off until the end of the month, it's RAINUK305 (someone there has a sense of humour).
Oh, and it's appearing on Starsclip.com's Leonard Cohen page!

Well, you're right about that, LGS... there are certain places your novel does NOT need to end up. It needs the maximum in appreciative audiences... so given the alternatives, the new cover prevails.
Hmmm... 25% off brings Christmas gifts to mind. Perhaps, they took note of the spate of activity
