Hi Ken,

I don't think I'll be there but this was a REAL dilemma for me. Roscoe has a couple of gigs in Austin which I would like to try to make. I do love blues! Talk about being torn apart! There will probably be more Forum members in either Ottawa/Montreal/NY or Toronto, but hey...I love Roscoe's sound!

Hope to see you at a concert somewhere in the world!

Take care,
Diana

Hi Ken,

Ahem..if you haven't noticed, I've created an excellent fan page for Roscoe on Facebook :D , but I don't think you're on FB. The gig I'm interested in is May 8th in Austin....with Oz Noy and Anton Fig. They are awesome as a group! The blues is fantastic! I'll try to get you some more information and get back with you, either via the forum, or a pm.

Warm regards,
Diana

edit: I know this is a Webb Sisters thread but if ANYONE is close to Austin and interested in Roscoe's gig, get in touch with me via pm...would be so much fun to meet up and surprise him!

Hi Ken,

Yes, I was at the dedication, although I have a horrible time remembering names and faces I'm sure I'll recognize people I've meet before:-)

Don is coming too, and his son Jacob. All are welcome, quiet or noisy it's all part of the mix!!

Cheers,
evelyn

This article about their Ottawa concert includes a nice quote from the New York Post that the Webb Sisters are considered "hot" in 2010. The Albert Noonan video of "If It Be Your Will" is also featured.

THE WEBB SISTERS!

Born into a family of musicians in Kent, England, Charley and Hattie are The Webb Sisters.....Beguiling, dynamic performers with hugely expressive voices and plangent harmonies, they are highly skilled multi-instrumentalists and songwriters of originality and intelligence. Ingénues yet thinkers, the sisters' youthful energy and musical training combine in adventurous, lyrical and emotionally enthralling performances.

Their singing and playing (harp, guitar, mandolin and more) draw from the folk and pop traditions of Britain and the United States. The Webb Sisters have recorded two albums, building a following in the UK and achieving album and record of the week on iTunes and BBC Radio Two. The Webb Sisters represented the UK at America's 400th Anniversary celebrations, contributed songs to several major TV shows (most recently "Cane" on CBS), recorded a new song for a Judy Collins tribute album alongside the likes of Dolly Parton and Rufus Wainwright, and have performed on major concert tours with artists such as Jamie Cullum, James Morrison and Jason Mraz.

BIOGRAPHY

Charley Webb (born 1979) and Hattie Webb (born 1981) were born in Kent, UK, to a hairdresser father and a tennis coach mother. They also have two brothers, who are both drummers. According to Charley, music often blared from all of the house. Although Charley became briefly interested with being an ambulance driver, the sisters had early on decided on a career in music. Hattie played the harp, and Charley the piano. When they were teenagers, the pair began to give recitals all over the country, and played at, among others, charity functions, end-of-year parties, and played twice for Princess Anne and once for Queen Elizabeth.

They met Johnny Pierce, a record producer who invited them to Nashville, where they recorded their debut album, A Piece of Mind. After six months, they went to California, selling the album between performances at various recitals. They were soon found and offered a publishing deal, and shortly after, a record deal, and they began to create the album, Daylight Crossing. Two years later they returned to the UK, where they were discovered by Mercury Records, and they recorded Daylight Crossing. The album was released in June 2006. In May 2007 they represented Britain at Americas’ 400th Anniversary Celebrations in Jamestown, Virginia, which aired on NBC. They have recently collaborated with Angelo Petraglia (Kings of Leon) and Nashville's own Craig Wiseman, and are currently writing and recording new material. In May 2008, the Webb Sisters joined Sharon Robinson as back-up singers on Leonard Cohen's first tour in 14 years. The worldwide tour has played 175 concerts to date, in front of well over 1.5 million exuberant fans.

Hey Ladydi and Sturgess 66:

This is a Webb Sisters 'thread' - as much as we all adore Roscoe.
Of course, I am sure The Webb Sisters love Roscoe too (in fact I believe he played on Charley and Hattie's last 'Webb Sisters' gig in New York.)
I'm going to Joe's Pub tonight to see the girls - it has SOLD OUT.

I would also like to go to Montreal gig too on April 3. I wonder if a 'special guest' who lives in Montreal will be there to see the 'sublime' Webb Sisters.

Hi Canadian friends..... the sublimes were truly that in both looks and sounds at joe's pub tonight. Very good crowd and a large number stayed late to chat with them. They were wonderfully gracious -- my youngest nephew said on the way out, " boy that autograph was well worth the wait."

Both Hattie and Charley said they were looking forward to upcoming shows in Canada and hope to see familiar faces. Seemed very grateful for our faithful support. Am sure you are all going to have great time before, at, and after concerts! Seems that about 80% of audience indicated they had seen a Cohen show 08 or 09. A few, however, seemed unaware there was any Cohen connection. Enjoy yourselves!

Just returned from two Bridge Tournaments in quick succession, narrowly escaping the rolling shockwave in southern California from the Mexicali earthquake. Catching up on Forum matters and found your excellent report, Dick. Great photo too. And how nice that those sweet young'uns enjoyed the experience. Thanks for keeping us all informed.
