Today I received a message from the Slovak agency Vivien, who is patron of a concert LC in Bratislava :

All who wish to return tickets for , not to act the concert
13.3.2010 may do so by March 31. I do not know whether this applies even if those who have ordered tickets outside of Slovakia. Perhaps there are other rules.

Does anyone have any information about refunds for the Katowice concert? My son has a ticket but won't be able to go in October.

The best thing would be for your son to get in touch with the local promoters, the Jazzporaz agency. The e-mail address he'll need is bilety.cohen@jazzrazporaz.pl. This was also the contact address for the pre-sale tickets. They can be a bit slow to respond but they should be on the look out for refund enquiries in the current circumstances.

Does this also apply to tickets purchased online from Ticketportal.sk?

Thanks

Yes, this is true even for tickets purchased through Ticketportal.sk.
I have good information from Vivien.

Stay quiet

I even tried at the end of the conversation, to ask for them to do an exchange of the original two night booking for just one night in September, not possible she said!
That is so weird ! I received a mail this morning from the Novotel Lille Gares saying : "...Suite à votre demande j'ai le plaisir de vous confirmer la modification de votre réservation pour les 24 et 25 septembre 2010. Votre pré paiement est aussi déplacé en conséquence..."
Me too I had a "non-refundable/non-changeable" reservation and they have been so kind (in my opinion at least !) to change it anyway .

Whether the Hotel Novotel Lille Gares is run on different lines (attitude?) to Hotel Novotel Lille Centre Grand Place may be the difference but unless one has all the details to hand, it is hard to fathom out why this should occur. I have suggested to Wendy that she contacts head office to ask their opinion.

Perhaps you can inform us to what your reservation was (fully paid or deposit) how much for and what you emailed them precisely?
I had a "fully paid" reservation (210 €) and this is exactly what I mailed :

I hope this will be useful somehow.

Thank you very much, Kenadian, for your tips!

Without your tips I would not have tried to change the hotel reservation ("non-refundable", "non-changeable"), because I thought that would be fruitless. I wrote an e-mail to the hotel, explained the problem and sent it with a copy of the mail from the ticketseller. Today I got an answer: They grant the postponement of the reservation from March to September, because they understand the extraordinary circumstances!!! At the end of the message: "We hope that Mr Cohen will be healthy by then."

So, Kenadian, your tips are very, very helpful - heartfelt gratitude!!!!

I hope that many of you will have the same luck!

It's official - I have declared war on the Novotel Lille Grand Place. Next step - a fax to the head of Accor Hotels followed by a "terrible" review on TripAdvisor. Are they the only hotel who have failed to respond positively to an "unforseen, unfortunate circumstances" e-mail?

I am glad my input was helpful, to you and others. I only wish everyone could have such positive results!

So at which show will we be seeing you?

Cheers,

Are you trying to cancel or just move the dates? The current "Hot deals - no change, no cancellation" rate for Sept 25 is 94euros. If this is more than your original rate you could offer to pay the difference. If it is less, they should be happy getting the higher rate for the night.

Or we could all email the hotel and tell them how we feel they are being unreasonable, and that for every rule, there must be an exception, and that when we all go to Lille to see Leonard Cohen, we will not even consider staying at such an intolerable hotel. After all, we are not talking about cancelling a convention, it's just one room.

Power to the people!

Guess what? I have just received a response from my hotel to say that, exceptionally, they will move my booking and pre-payment to the new dates in September!!
That is fantastic news Wendy!!!

Thank you everyone one for your input, particularly Inne and Vicomte together with Ken for the original idea. I wrote yet again (about 6 e-mails in total) to the Novotel Lille Grand Place. I said that their sister hotel had been flexible and I quoted Inne's e-mail and the hotel's response. I also mentioned that to my knowledge, all other hotels had been flexible about their terms in these very exceptional circumstances.

Guess what? I have just received a response from my hotel to say that, exceptionally, they will move my booking and pre-payment to the new dates in September!!

A result!

A final special mention and thanks to Vicomte who took up my case directly with the hotel yesterday. He was unable to persuade them at the time but I'm sure he helped to wear them down. The evidence that the other Novotel in Lille was prepared to be flexible was the thing that finally swung it for me.

Does anyone know the procedure to claim a refund for Bratislava tickets if they were purchased online (from the UK)? Is there an email address to write to? I have had no communication from the official ticket seller although I see that there is a statment on their website confirming what others have said in this thread about returning tickets by the end of this month. However this does not seem to apply to those that bought tickets from outside of Slovakia :?: :?:
