Hi carlowmike--we hope we have booked for the dinner on friday 30th--emailed address given--is that all we need to do???

roan and anneeshipley

roan, both of you are included for the Dinner on Friday 30th , payment is on the night ;-).
Number attending is now at 45, still plenty of room.
Some Members are seeking to arrange Lunch for Sunday 1st August.
Depending on response we just might try arrange something and book a Venue (Shenanigans again !).

carlowmike wrote:I was contacted today by Forum members, Leslee and Alan,
they are getting married in Northern Ireland on the morning of Saturday 31st of July.
Following a small reception in Northern Ireland for family and friends they are coming to Sligo in order to have the first
dance of their married life to the music of Leonard Cohen,
In Leslee's words "they wish to spend the first day of their married life with their fellow Cohen fans and the great man himself ".
They will be staying in Rossnoulogh near Sligo.
They contacted me to see if I could arrange a favour for them. (I will try later ;-) ).
They will be joining the pre-concert meet-up in the Garavogue.
It will be 40 years married for us this year ( this trip to Sligo is my present to my husband)-- I wish Leslee and Alan all the best , they couldnt find a better way to celebrate :D :D

That makes 9 people from Scotland -- 7 from Israel -- 4 from Australia --
2 from Germany --and a dozen from the USA ( including 3 teachers from NYC on Teacher exchange program),
and that's just counting the people coming to the Dinner .
You can add two guests from London to that dinner list + one from Dublin,
email forwarded to specified address.
Sunday for lunch sounds good to us too ?.
Good news on seating, thanks.

This is serious query!
Is walking to the venue really out of the question? This was dismissed early on as too far, but I am wondering about walking to the venue if the day is nice (ho-ho) and getting a shuttle bus back maybe.
If it really is 6 miles from the centre that would be what 2-3 hours depending on pace? I could march past all the chaos and congestion and stroll in about 5pm to the venue I am thinking. But is it 6 miles? I think some people said it was 8 miles perhaps a bit far. Clarification on this welcome
A walking route map I would be prepared to shell out for if the business people produced one.
I believe the distance to Lissadell from the town is about 10 mile...I think walking to the Venue would be out of the question with all the extra traffic on the roads (not to mention the exhaust fumes from same :!: ).
The Sligo committee did say they were intending to publish a little guide plus map for free distribution to concert goers.

Several Members are expressing interest in attending a Sunday lunch get-together for fans and Members,
I will check with some restaurants regarding availability and price for two course meal on that day,
and let you know the result soon.
Open to all to attend but it does help if we can supply providers with a number and a given time  .

Might interest your members, there are about 15 of us from county fan clubs who plan to have our mid day meal on Sunday in Shenanigans,
the restaurant area can accomodate 100 people.

Amazingly Ticketmaster are still dishing out tickets in variations of BlockA today.
Must be a sickener for the "scalpers and touts"...
I believe there will be some BlockA tickets nearer to the stage coming up for sale shortly, (from a cancelled group).

Ladydi,
the up-coming tickets are for Saturday Concert ...
let me know your BlockA Row and Seat # ( via PM/ Email if you like )..
If the tickets on offer from the cancelled group booking are better placed
I just might be able to arrange a straight exchange of BlockA ticket for you before they go on sale. ;-)

Please add me to the lunch on Sunday - Carlow Mike
thanks!(Les Mutti).

The Sunday lunch gathering is very much come and go as you please.
At the request of a few Members I have sourced a venue doing a good quality / good value Sunday lunch.
I spoke to Trish of Shenanigans today.
Shenanigans are open for meals from noon to 9 pm on Sunday 1st August,
with lunch and varied evening menu costing between 12 euro to 20 euro per person.
I think the best we can do in organizing a Cohen get-together for a meal on the Sunday is to nominate from noon to circa 4pm as "Cohen Time in Shenanigans" :!:
and make welcome every fan / member who arrives :)
Of course the Bar will also be open ;-),
there will be many more restaurants open in the town but I have named Shenanigans because they are catering for the Dinner for Forum members and non-members on Friday 30th, - carlowmike.

Our group will be there for mid meal at 12.00 noon.
We are leaving for bus outing to coast at 1.30.
The bus will leave us at Lissadell at 5 :D
Is there a singer or band playing support ?

7 Weeks To Go.

No plans for support entertainment,
still no positive confirmation as to when Leonard will come on stage
but looks like it will be a 7.30 start :!:
we will know more during the coming week ;-) .
