donalagata,

Indeed, a 'plague' is coming in the form of a wonderful dedication ceremony. Sorry, I just couldn't resist. You gave me my laugh of the day - thank you donalagata!
Warmest regards,
Mary

Hi all
I haven't been posting much on this forum (mainly because I was unable to access this site from my work PC for a few years - message boards banned - and it was only this year I splashed out and bought my own personal PC, so now I can read what I like! Also sometimes I just like browsing the forum and don't really have anything of value to add!
I was at the New York 2004 event and really enjoyed it. I thought at the time it was the closest thing i would ever get to seeing the man himself (little did I know that my dreams would come true just a few short years later) and the event did not disappoint. (Apart from the ginormous cockroach in my room at Columbia University that is,

)
I will be going to New York again for the concert in October and will be staying at the Chelsea Hotel. I cannot wait. This is something I have wanted to do for a long time (just stay in the hotel that is), and I actually can't believe that it is coinciding with a concert from the man himself.
Dick, I have just read about the event that you are organising - wow, that will be some occasion. Please can you count me in? Also if you need any help with organising or volunteers I would be happy to help.
The plans for Leonard's birthday are amazing and well done and thanks to those who have put the thought and imagination and hard work in.

Trish, I thought we might be the only representatives travelling from Ireland
and staying at the Chelsea for this event.
We are arriving in USA on 22nd and leaving on the 25th Oct.
Anyone else going from Ireland ?
we chould arrange a meet-up in the hotel ...

Hi Mike
That's great! I know of one other person who might be coming but not sure after that, will let you know if I hear anything. A few years ago I had a drink there - there's a really funky bar in the basement! Are you staying in the Chelsea for the whole duration? And are you going to go to the concert in Philly on the 22nd?

Tee hee! When I was in Venice I thought I might meet him as he left the stage after the sound check. Had nothing for him to sign and didn't want to risk running to the merchandise stand in case I missed him, so I had my passport and a pen at the ready

. As Mastercard would say - Irish passport........ 75 euro ...... signature (or even sighting of) Leonard Cohen........... priceless!

Dear Dick,
We want to thank you again for all the Great Job you did for the dedication and now for the celebration !!
We have just bought tickets for the Madison Square Garden concert.
If there is no problem, we plan to come to this magic place and would be very happy to attend to the Chelsea Ceremony.
Thank you to add the Cras Family from France (4 people).
It will correspond with Suzanne's school vacation and she will enjoy to be there.
When she saw Leonard for the first time last year in Lyon (France), she cried...
Many thanks to you and your team !!
It will be wonferful to meet you and others again.
Many thanks again to Jarkko !!
Warm regards to you and your wife.
Natacha, Jean-Baptiste.

Hi Diana –
I’ve just purchased the ticket (the cheapest one) for MSG concert. I did not plan to do that, it just happened that way and I am very glad to see you there, first at Chelsea ceremony and then at MSG.
With warm wishes,
Roman

Hi Roman,
Wonderful! But you will be up in the rafters. I looked at those seats because they were so cheap....then looked at the seat chart. Wondered why there were so few of them but then realized it was because they are by the roof of MSG! Hope you don't suffer from vertigo...and I hope the screens are REAL large!
However, it will be great to see you again, first at the Chelsea, and then will wave to you in the heavens!
Diana
