nessler wrote:it was pure bliss. slightly shorter setlist I think, stopped with save the last dance. An odd choice but very special indeed.

About those soundchecks, can anyone just que and witness them or do you need a ticket ?
in the latter case I can't witness one since I only had tickets for the Tuesday show...
You can listen to the sound check from outside: great sound, really close, but you cannot go in and you can't see anything. No tickets needed of course! The first day it started around 15.45 and lasted till 17.00
I read somewhere there are many people without a ticket who come and sit there outside the "walls" , just to listen to the concert together. It's an option when you don't have a ticket !It s all sold out, at least that is what the Sherpa website says today...I saw some people trying to sell tickets outside the venue though...

Thanks! This is an interesting moment:
On leaving St. Peter's Square, I met the Israeli ambassador. He is with police escort in front and behind his car arrived, but is quiet and lonely in the crowd. 'It was as high-minded as a classic concert, "I say. He continues, taking a puff from his pipe and staring at the deserted but not empty stage: "It was a synagogue."

Home from a wonderful few days in Ghent. Won't write much now as I'll be posting my review and it will all be there. For those interested though for Friday and Saturday the sound check yesterday started at 15.30 and Leonard was on stage until 17.00 (!!!!) and then the Webbs sang Coming Back To You and If It Be Your Will and there was some instruments tested until around 17.30. Songs sang by Leonard in soundcheck not sang at the concert were Night Comes On (see my video on YouTube), Avalanche, Field Commander Cohen and Chelsea Hotel :D
Had planned on writing my review today and also of Adam's concert but the adrenaline I had for the last few days must have stayed in Ghent

Woaaah, that's almost half of a concert and to hear these four songs (Only Leonard singing or with the band?) is worth it to come and hear the soundcheck. I'll try to be there on saturday. :) What were the songs performed on sunday's soundcheck?

Have a great concert tonight everyone. :)

Yes it is worth it. Some of the songs were done with the Webb Sister's parts too. I have some of Field Commander Cohen and a one minute snippet of Avalache from yesterday recorded but for some reason I can't get them to upload. Also done in sound check yesterday was Tower of Song, The Future and 2 others which are escaping me now. I've had over10 hours of live music over the past few days so things are fuzzy now. Sunday we heard Light as The Breeze, Avalache, The Future, Bird on The Wire (I also recorded some of this and it is on YouTube with the fans gathered as a backdrop) and something from Old Ideas. Hopefully after sleep I will remember the rest. Both sound checks included both of the songs from The Webb Sisters, Coming Back to You and If It be Your Will.

I was there yesterday. I find it difficult to find the words to describe the experience, so I'll use mister Cohen's words... "And like a blessing come from heaven for something like a second I was healed and my heart was at ease."

All last night and this morning and afternoon I was happily enjoying the after concert high... But as evening crept closer, the feeling hit me that I won't be there tonight. And I won't be there on Friday or on Saturday either. I can't afford another ticket and I wouldn't be able to make it anyway. I'm in Ghent tomorrow, meeting with a friend of mine, and I'm sad I didn't think to ask her to meet me on a day when there would be a soundcheck. I don't live too far away from Ghent, but I'm leaving for a short holiday on Friday morning.

So right now, I'm just sad and feeling sort of melancholic because of what has been and won't be again.

PS: I was seated "in the cheap seats" ;) tribune B, quite close to the stage. All through the concert, whenever Leonard would sing a verse or a word with an s-sound in it, I would hear it twice, with a delay of about half a second, coming from my left (that would be the back of the venue). At first I thought someone on my left was singing along, but it would be odd to only hear the s-sounds! Was that just a consequence of sitting with my right ear to the stage and my left ear to the back (where the sound system is - or whatever that is called), or was there something going on with the sound? It wasn't too distracting, fortunately, but I definitely heard it. Maybe that's why those are the cheap tickets?
