By 'competition' I am certainly not excluding 'cooperation'. Symbiosis in nature and trade and barter amongst humans are the common features prevalent throughout history. But they are not out of any great love or compassion but simply out of necessity and need for survival. Let's call it 'cooperative competiton'. Maybe 'tough love' is the engine of survival....I can live with that. :)

true. someone said that most of progress came from lazyiness. it was because they didn't want to work hard that people invented machines etc. there's certanly something to that.

things have changed rapidly lately. for better or for worst. we know that we are a unique species in many regards (self concience, killing for fun, money, ability to distroy all Earth, ability to kill out more or less any other species we choose...)

with great power comes great responsibility, to quote Stanley Liebovitz (is that the surname?).

globalization and capitalism are not necessery the same thing. capitalism may just be needed to motivate people for work. what about globalization?

anyway, i agree that there are good sides to both. it's a matter of pessimism/optimism or idealism/pragmatism weather you or i think that the system is good and needs improvement or that the syistem is bad but has some good sides, right?
