Lizzytysh, you must not have young kids or you would know who Franz Ferdinand is. My daughter loves this band. Can't say they do much for me though. They certainly ain't no Leonard Cohen, much less Bob Dylan, Its A Beautiful Day, Moody Blues, Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks, or any other of the great bands of our generation.

Hi Lizzy and others,
This isn't really relevant to this thread but I too had never heard of Franz Ferdinand until today and the Coachilla concert, however, suddenly it seems they are everywhere! Borders had tons of their cd's, and I took a listen on YouTube. They are pretty good and true, I think for the younger generation they are probably REALLY great! But for any of us raised, not just with Leonard, but with all the great groups and individual musicans/artists of the 60's and 70's there always seems to be just a little bit missing with most modern groups. But, they are not bad....and that's a compliment of sorts.

Hi,
Even if you haven't heard of the band Franz Ferdinand, you should know that he (the real Franz Ferdinand) was part of the reason World War I started...

Hi Maarten,
So true. Hopefully people would remember their history as that was indeed a moment that altered the world forever. I wonder the story behind such a young group deciding on that name?

And the fact that he is performing at this event will expose many other music fans to him and his music and then not as many people will say "who's he?".
... and if, for
no other reason [of which there are many, but still... ], therein, lies the blessing

.
WoW. Ask and ye shall receive... thanks for all the postings on Franz Ferdinand, Hydriot, Micropup, and Maarten. You're right, Micropup... no young kids. And I checked and my cats and my dog had never heard of them, either. Our generational tastes are quite different, for the most part, aren't they, MP? That's why the young people who embrace Leonard are like gold nuggets.

Especially someone like Jackson Melnick, 14!, who is looking for some tickets. I sincerely hope he finds them!
Kindest regards,

My not-so-young kids (19,24,30)--Leonard Cohen fans all--are pretty excited about Band of Horses and Fleet Foxes. I've heard those bands and they are pretty good. But surely Coachella could think of a better headliner than Paul (ho-hum) McCartney!

Couldn't have said it better myself. w.o Lennon, McCartney is nothing.

ATHENS! What the heck was he doing there? I wonder if he spent a few days away from everything on Hydra?? Guess I just assumed that he would have flown back to LA and then to NY, but one should never assume. How lucky was your son! Wow. Was he able to speak with him? Wow!
And, oh yes, I would be very happy to pass your love on to Leonard

Diane, I have no idea what he was doing there either but my son swears it was him! He stared at him but was not brave enough to approach him.... If it had been me now...............................
