Just a little note to wish you happy birthday and to let you know what a wonderful weekend that I had! Ha! and you thought this note was about you!

This past Friday I produced a tribute concert in your honour in Edmonton, Alberta, for our 8th annual Leonard Cohen Night. Our performing guests were truly excellent; interpreting your words and music in their own style. But our most charming guest was your son, Adam. What a pleasure it was for me and the artists to work with him - he was the consummate coach - providing advice and assistance where possible. You would have been proud to watch him at work and at play!

I hope this note finds you well (under some unappetizing circumstances) and that you too have had a wonderful weekend. Happy birthday to you!

How many others have around 20,000 guests at their 75th birthday party? So many others of us will be with you in that room in spirit, you must know that and I hope you feel it too. Have a wonderful, wonderful evening in Barcelona, I just know they will raise the roof when you come on stage.
