Paula, I have a couple of pics with you in, I'll send them to you. They may flash b/w and colour but you'll have to put up with it. How about engraving your glass with the name 'Philip'? Or how about that proverb: "Those who go to Glass concerts shouldn't throw moans."

Listen, I think you ought to throw out the slice of lemon after a week or so.

I will be there wherever he plays in Ireland. What about O'Flaherty's in Dingle, I remember having a great night there many moons ago. Can you sort it out please, RP. We were discussing on the weekend the idea of touring around with him, for some of the Europe dates at least. When does an interest become an obsession 8) ?

No bother!
I still think Joe Dolan would be happy to have Leonard open for him in the Snag and Badger Lounge & Bar in Mullingar.

I have a tent I can loan or trade for a bunk in a campervan if we are going to be following the tour .

Diane and Margaret - you'll both be welcome home to Ireland......
Diane - interest became obsession when you stuck the 2008 year-planner over the fireplace and covered the diningroom table with the map of Europe. Add my name to the list above the sideboard, will you? :D

That's the spirit, Margaret. Hey, I hadn't thought of that. Will we be a convoy of camper vans? Life on the road at last. Yes! We are going to top last weekend, come the Tour.

Thank you, Damellon. I have many lists. A camping list, a hiking list, a waiting list, a touring list, a list of people who have nicked something of Leonard's. A list of lists. I'll add you to them all, just to be on the safe side(board).

Put me on that list too Diane. :D
Leonard hasn't been to this part of the world since 1985 so he's not about to hike over here at his age.
And I have some money in savings ready and waiting for 'the word'.
A Tour sounds like the only way to go.

You got it, BM :D ! Can't wait to have you over here. What a time we'll all have. Oh boy. He might hike it down under, too, though.

Wonderful news, Blonde Madonna!! It'll be great. What were your skills again? Dingo scaring, campfire cooking, night sky stargazing.... What about Christine? What about Hay-on-Wye?

I listened in to your conversation with Leonard and it went something like this

(Birdonawire) - I'm so pleased to meet you. :D
(Leonard) - and what is your name :?:
(B) - Birdonawire :)
(L)- I asked for your name..not a request! :o
(B) - but that is the name I use :o
(L)- Did I give you permission to use my song for your name? 8)
(B) - sorry, Leonard. It won't happen again :o
(L) - so what is your name? :?:
(B) - Eric :D
(L) - you're doing it again! I'm not asking for requests!! :?
(B) - You wrote a song called 'Eric' ???? :?
(L) - Yes. I wrote a song about Eric. :D
(B) - You wrote a song about me????
(L) - I wrote a song about Eric and you've stolen the name for yourself. :)
(B) - How was I to know???
(L) - Call yourself a Cohenite??????? :?:
(B) - I'm so sorry, Leonard. I had no idea. :o
(L) - I'll forgive you this once. I'll sing it next year when I tour. :)
(B) - You're touring next year???????
(l) - Damn...now I've told someone!! I was going to keep it quiet.
(B) - Leonard, that's brilliant!!! Will you be singing 'Eric'? :D
(L) - For you, Eric, I will. :)
(B) - Have you sang it before??? :?:
(L) - Call yourself a Cohenite??? Of course I have!!! 8)
(B) - You've sang 'Eric' before?
(L) - Of course I have! 8)
(Leonard starts to quietly sing 'Bird on a Wire')
(B) - But that's Bird on a Wire!! :?
(L) - Yes. The bird's name is Eric, Eric :)
(B)- Eric Eric? :?
(L)- Noooo...just Eric, Birdonawire :)
(B)- Eric is the bird on a wire? :?
(L) - Yes. I called him Eric. I was going to sing 'like an Eric on a wire' but it didn't sound right. The Bird on a wire is called Eric, and you, Eric is also Birdonawire which makes it all confusing that you chose the name of Eric and also Birdonawire so please be careful next time you meet me that you don't sound like a request. 8)
(B)- Sorry, Leonard. I'll change my name to Bert. :)
(L) - Sorry..you can't have that name!! 8)
(B) - Is that a request?
(Leonard smiles)

and that is really how Eric knew beforehand that Leonard may tour.

(I knew I should have gone to bed earlier)
Pete, thanks for remembering my chat with Leonard so well. I didn't think people would believe me if I told what he really said!!!
It was great to meet you in London. Anyone from this site who have not met you yet are in for a real treat when they do. Hopefully we'll be able to do it all again soon (including the chat with Leonard).

IF Leonard does make it to Ireland, let's hope it's not to the Point.
I think he (and the band) would be lost in there.
Not sure where else he might play, though it would be great to see him back in the Stadium!
I would hate if Leonard chose to play The Point. Its a terrible venue and the sound is usually bad (and I can't imagine it getting much better after the re-development). It's too 'big' for his type of music. I think if he does include Ireland on his tour (and why wouldn't he!), Vicar Street might be better. Alternatively, I could just move my sofa and
we could jam in my house. Since i'm just down the road from Mullingar, Joe won't have too far to come to join us

Margaret, thanks again for the photos you sent of me with Leonard. They were really great. I have a few really
good photos of you with him but my laptop is playing up. I can recieve emails but can't send them. I also have some
shots of Diane, Paula and Daveliver. If I have any of anyone else I will let them know. As soon as I get my laptop
sorted I will send all photos to their true homes :)

PS. If anybody thinks I may have sneaked into one or more of their pics then let me know. I'll be glad to relieve you
of the burden of caring for such rare and wonderful little things :D

You say some very kind things...thank you..... and it was great to meet you..and your brother to whom everyone said ' you don't look like brothers!!!' I bet you get fed up of hearing that
Yes... I think I got your conversation with Leonard word for word....it all made sense at the time but now I'm back in reality I'm not so sure. :)

I still have this image of you grinning from ear to ear..all day and even in the late hours of Saturday night after most people had exhausted their second wind....I was on my third wind but it may have been the casserole I had at the Barbican before the performance :)
BTW... was the water supply back in the travel lodge when you eventually got up the next day??? I was in the middle of a shower at the time and had just put the shampoo in my hair when the water decided to go strike..it could have waited another 5 minutes!!! maybe I should have made my way to Trafalger Square and had a rinse in the fountains...oh well..there's always a next time

Please add me to the tour bus list too Diane. I can watch for snakes or creepy crawlie's and I have extensive camping experience. I will protect the campsite and caravans while you all go for your hike and perhaps roll a cigarette while you're all gone. harhar Dar.

I left Sunday afternoon and the water was still off then. I only discovered this when standing naked in the bath!
They sent me to another room for a shower (after I dressed myself of course). But I did exactly the same thing,
got into the shower before i discovered the water didn't work there also  On the third go in the next room they sent
me to I had the good sense (even though it was two rooms too late) to check the water supply before undressing. There was
only a dribble but enough to get me wet if i ran around the bath tub. I spoke with a staff member and she got me a full
refund on the room!!! No fuss!

No problem Eric. By the way I just back back from a concert in Birkenhead (performers were Show of Hands) and who should be sitting next to us but Daveliver! In the interval he told of his Sunday night out in London with Ken to see the Tiger Lilies and a late night ride home on the infamous Night Bus !
