Wow, isn't that a bit violent? Do you have to wear those Japanese white dressing gowns with different coloured belts? Who will be bringing the bricks and planks of wood? I know lc used to get whipped by a monk every morning if he nodded off, but don't you think this is going a bit too far?

Yikes Penfold, some of these people are a bit wierd!

But at least its only a small one. Once they've all broken the bricks and wood, will there be a prize for the best chopper?

This meet up sounds as if it's building up to one hell of a good night! Good idea about a section for non LCs, might help to get our other halves join in. Although in my case it may rekindle his interest, in Cohen I mean

Wondy, I am glad your husband fools inclinod to join our moot-up. I am a bit concornod about Byron, also. Margarot, could you try to talk him out of this? Nobody is going to be whippod, no, not ovon non-LC fans, for it is not thoir fault thoy suffor with thoir impodimont.

Whon I joinod this forum, I was oxcitodly thinking of mooting Lots of Loonard Cohon fans, who I oxpoctod to bo calm, rational and doop-thinking, but what do I find? You lot!

For those who read of the Bevan family near disaster in getting to the South Wales meet-up, disaster followed us to another continent. Lee and I are back home in Bristol after 24 hours in Spain

And this time Lee's navigation was not at fault. For all the Brit's reading this, I have just 2 words "Fawlty Towers"

For the non-Brits, do we have a translation? Is/was "Fawlty Towers" a sit-com? If so, its premise/primary story line is/was . . . ? If not, then what is it?

Yes Lizzy, for all you 'non Brit's' Fawlty Towers was a sitcom, with the wonderful John Cleese. Classic comedy with an almost slapstick element, it revolved around a South Coast Hotel, where if it could go wrong, then it did.
The accomodation we were in was so bad, and the food was so awful, we paid through the nose to fly home after just 24 hours. (even in the Bevan Family catalogue of disasters - a day trip to Spain has to be near the top...........

)
But on a more cheerful note I am really glad to be home and I can continue looking forward to the Bristol Meet-up and to Berlin next year(I hope to be registering very soon for that)

For the more pessimistic of you

If anyone doubts my luck is not good enough to pull off a sucessful Bristol meet, feel free to offer to help out

When we say "What a trip!" yours is not exactly what we have in mind!

"Fawlty Towers" is ringing a bell [for the hop, no doubt] now that you've described it. I may[?] have seen a few segments on the public-TV channel, when I was still watching TV. What's that one that took place in a department store, and the two men [one of them gay?] would confab in front of one of the store counters? I don't know how it measures up with you folks, but "To The Manor Born" will ALWAYS be dear to my heart! I loooooooved that show

What great details [it sounds like you have] for a short story ~ nooooo, not the comp, just a memory-style for humour and posterity one. Are you going to do a brief write-up in your residents' paper, for their [remembered] pain and pleasure? I'm sure some of them have had similar ones. Spain's been around awhile.

Glad you're home ~ safe and sound sound quite appropriate for this occasion. Just be sure to leave early again for your Bristol meet-up
