I did notice that one of your posts has been edited 5 times. I see no edits in Young dr. Freud's posts. But I am not going to argue with a drunken idiot. Why don't you stay off this thread if you don't like the topic?
Back on topic -- Leonard shouldn't cover "I'd like to teach the World to Sing".

Nan and others,
Some great choices. Aslak is an advertisement for staying sober,
whether he is drunk or not. Despite his beligerence, though,
he seemed to refer to me as "Christ."

I've been called far worse.

this did (does) have the makings of a good thread
there are many subtleties in responding to the original question.
Did you not conjure up an image of Leonard trying to cover the suggested songs?..that itself provides mild amusement.
It is also intriguing to ponder why these particular songs were mentioned..
'Born to Run'
'Summer Holiday'
'Walking on Sunshine'
'My heart will go on'
'I'd like to teach the world to sing'
Is there a common theme here or does the disparity lie with the individual circumstance?
I don't know why I thought of 'Summer Holiday'..it just popped in my head when I read the question....

This thread, for all it's claimed stupidity, has drawn some comment. that's the point after all.
To behave "stupidly" on a "stupid" thread with arguments that are threadbare & display hubris, misplaced bravurra & not a little net narcissism would suggest that more that a freudian slip has passed the tongue of someone.
Leonard should definetly NOT record ANY Issac Hayes tracks - unless accompanied by the muso's from I'm Your Man & even then for their own ears, not mine.
Then again a craggy SHAFT might be endearing.
Hey, Leonard has a better sense of humour than you give him credit for Mr Swede.
Cheers

FYI, Aslak ~ and Welcome to the Forum

~
Any time
anyone changes
anything in their posting, once it has actually
been posted and someone else has posted
after it, a small-print, "edited" line appears at the bottom of the posting.
Hence,
if YdF misspelled the word imagine, he caught and changed it himself,
prior to your
own posting calling attention to it. Had it been otherwise, an "edited" line would have appeared. However, there were 26 minutes between the two postings, so it's more likely that in your self-professed drunkenness, you simply misread what was written.

Hi Pete,
Yes, I did "conjure up an image of Leonard trying to cover the
suggested songs" and it was/is fun as "that itself provides
mild amusement." I don't know if there is a common thread
to the songs you listed, but am giving some thought to rayc's
noting that Leonard posesses a sense of humor and what
that (and some irony or possibly reinterpretation) could impart
to what might seem to be un-coverable songs. Elvis Costello
was able to transfigure some Burt Bacharach songs from
pop-fizzle to poignancy. Who knows what alchemical magic
Leonard could perform from his residency in the Tower of
Song?

For the record (in this go nowhere squabble) YDF did have "image" and not "imagine" as the young Aslak stated. I saw it myself and thought it ironic considering the context of their war-of-words.

Okay, Laurie. That settles it. Thanks for your corroboration of what Aslak had said. In that case, it's Plan B and YdF made the correction prior to Aslak's posting. When one pronounces drunkenness, however, misreads are as likely as typos/misspellings; perhaps, moreso

.

Oh my!
I do hope this pronouncement is derived from clinical data and not personal experience!
However, we do know in this case the inebriated(sp?) Aslak did not commit the faux pas he has been accused of.

Both, my dear, both

.
However, when it comes to an accusation, I'm hoping that these aren't what you consider one to be:
" . . . so it's more likely that . . . "
" . . . are as likely as . . . perhaps, moreso . . . "
Just checking

No. It was this.
Reads like a deductive conclusion to me...and I knew it was wrong. I had to say what I knew was the truth. That's all.

Hi Laurie ~
Not having been there, as you were......it wasn't a deductive conclusion, but did hinge on the "so it's
more likely that . . . " ~ which still isn't an accusation, but an observation of what drunkenness can result in, and very well may have in this instance ~ except, as exceptions go, didn't. Hence, the value of eye witnesses. However, when one professes drunkenness, and accounts certain things to it, no one should be surprized when other possibilities fall into the category, particularly given the lack of edit lines

. Evidence does not an accusation or conviction make. It does lend itself to the realm of possibility, however.
A deductive conclusion would read like: ". . . it's obvious that . . . ;" ". . . it's clear that . . . " ~ no, not being nitpicking; simply having the advantage of knowing what was in my mind when I wrote; just as you knew what was on the screen when you saw.
Still glad you clarified the situation. I suspect Aslak may be, as well.

[Well, there we go ~ I added to my posting while you were doing your own.]
So, continuing on with the thread's intent, Leonard should not cover "Life Is Just A Bowl Of Cherries."
