I wonder why the tickets are not will-call - (this is NYC, after all. . .definitely no shortage of touts there!

Unfortunately there is a new NY law, that's why AEG can no longer insist on WILL CALL ONLY delivery for Fan Club tickets in New York.

There was a law suit in New York saying it was unfair for venues to force buyers into only one method of delivery for tickets. The law suit did stem from a paperless ticketing show, but the law that was passed, now includes all ticketed shows. Basically, in New York, all methods of delivery must be made available to buyers: Will Call, Mail, Ticketfast (print at home)

Radio City in April

Post by SaintAnnie »

We've just gotten our two tickets, in the third row of the orchestra, for April. My husband and I are so happy -- thanks so much for the presale. We took two planes, our car, and the D train to Brooklyn to get to the show in November, and it was one of the loveliest evenings ever. To hear Leonard Cohen again, in just a few months, makes springtime in New York something to really look forward to xx

Well... I'm going to New York for 4 nights, but it remains to be seen for what!

The only tickets I've been offered are PP or TT [soooo far back] or DD but so far to the right that I'm on the aisle and at the very edge of the stage.
My friend helping me got a Pit seat in the AAA section [which there wasn't even supposed to be!], but I had totally forgotten that I had to have my TM password, so lost that one!

Looks like I'll be buying from someone here... or, perhaps, a tout  .

I'm not paying that high a price for that bad of a seat. Would rather enjoy NY and see Leonard elsewhere... as much as I want so much to see him in NY. It's just TOO high a price to be THAT far back!

Unfortunately, the new law does not seem to apply to international purchasers, who are still being forced to use Will Call. The only change is that there is now an option to transfer tickets. Great for someone like me who has ended up with a spare ticket which I am looking to sell - but also a breeze for touts and scalpers.

Thank you for the response, Jarkko. It helps to know the reason. It's very interesting that the "law" has such power to control the actions/polices of venues & buyers, but is not able to do a single thing about the touts. . .

Do you have to get the VIP tickets in order to get the first rows?

Well, I guess it was about time to go to New York, anyway.
I can still go to the pre- and post-meetups... and maybe a Broadway show [never been to one] and maybe an off-Broadway show [never been to one, but they tend to be independent and more intellectual/interesting/innovative/whatever].

I just can't justify sitting in Row PP or so far off to the side that I'm in front of the speakers... or seeing the side or back of the women's heads... for THAT kind of money!

The VIP's aren't even available now... so, unless someone offers a ticket for purchase that's better than TM is offering... and Row PP for a PRE-sale leaves MUCH to be desired... then, my time in NY will be less about Leonard and more about New York. My plane tickets are bought and paid for and are non-refundable... a bit hasty I was, perhaps, but truly expected the Pre-sale to offer better to the non-VIPs. And I wanted the cheapest plane fare that I could get. At least I got that ;-) .

This is just my perception, & I could be wrong, but it looks & sounds like the only non-VIP tickets in the front rows are pretty far out to the side; others may become available later, if the seats they are holding for VIP don't sell as VIP, but you would be taking a chance. . .

Edit: well, according to Lizzy's post above, the VIP seats have actually sold out already. . .

That's how it seems to me, too, Rachel... and unless someone has better luck, I couldn't even get a VIP package when I tried all categories of them more than once.

So sorry, Lizzy; maybe if you plan to come to NYC, a good ticket will manifest for you at some point. . .you know, "if you build it, they will come. . .", that kind of thing; I hope so!!

Looks like some members have bought multiple tickets, so I am sure there will be something also in the Tickets thread (which will be opened next)

Given the number of times Ticketmaster told me there were no tickets available, I guess I'm not surprised we have so few posters who report getting tickets. Please, even if you are shy, let us know what your experience was in trying to get tickets for NY.

By the way, on the NY law that ended "Will Call" for us in NY, this provides some interesting reading.

Even though we can't buy VIP here I was able to search for one and got offered PIT seat 4 row BBB. So how many rows are in the pit which I don't even see on the layout chart! We were offered PP on the left but then got HH on the right and took them which I had presumed from the charts was 8th row but obviously isn't! Marie can you find out how many rows in the pit and how far back we really are. I'm still going regardless but would like to know exactly how far back I am, thanks!
