On my second listening with good headphones attached to computer. Really am liking Amen; it may be my favorite. I can't wait to get the physical cd in my hands next week.

I just noticed on one of the NPR websites that OLD IDEAS streaming on demand is limited from January 23 through January 31, 2012.

So much for resisting temptation... Did one listen to the 6 I hadn't heard. Hopefully that's it until the weekend! Initial impressions? Amen is gorgeous, Crazy To Love You a gem, Anyhow a dud, Come Healing very nice (if possibly a tad too sweet and out of place on this album- first impression only mind..), Lullaby didn't do anything much for me and Different Sides was good with potential for that evaluation to rise with repeated plays.
Looking forward to getting to know it better at the weekend.

I can't stop listening to 'Old Ideas'.
There is not a single song that I don't like or like less.
Amen I love so much, also beacause of the horn.
Going home still is my favourite. But that seems not fair at all, because Show me the place also hits me real hard.
It feels likeon this album leonard used real magic, because I just have not heard so much beauty for a long time.
To me Old Ideas is the best: heavy, dark, poetic, easy going, tears, soul, heart, deep, hurt, loss, acceptance...
I can't think of any more words that describe my feelings.

I am DESPERATELY excited with this: the new album has also been streamed on the website of a Greek newspaper (Kathimerini) and it was posted on LC's Facebook page - in Greek.
I can't control my joy!!

I love every song, & every note & syllable of every song on this album!! Especially Amen & Show Me The Place & Crazy To Love You & - well, I'll end up naming all of them. . .
To me, this album is reminiscent of Leonard's earlier albums - more stark & pensive, & totally haunting, & absolutely stunning!! I love the later albums too, but there is something very moving about this return to the earlier style. The beautiful melodies & harmonies, the lovely instrumentation, the brilliant lyrics - everything is so gorgeous!!
I thought I would only listen this one time, before the CD arrives, but I am already planning to set aside time tonight, to listen again, uninterruptedly. I am totally addicted, & can't wait to hear it again!
Thank you for the link, maltmom!

I think the fact that it is short at 41 minutes long is a plus not a minus.

Listening to Old Ideas almost twice through on my 75 minute morning drive to work on the quiet winter highway brought tears to my eyes, joy to my heart and lightness to my soul.
Thank you Leonard! (and NPR...)

This new album is a gem

I love every one of the songs, they fit together perfectly. The musical arrangements and singers add much to it's excellence. I don't think 'Born in Chains' would have fitted into it though. I will give it 10 out of 10.
Leonard sounds wonderful.
Cannot wait for the next album. :
