Here are some YouTubes from last night.Just a taste of her show.

The club went very dark and a spotlight washed out her face as she performed a competent but not inspired "Avalanche:"

Elsa's Lullaby was what got me down there to Joe's Pub. She sounds a bit like Melanie here:

NEema remembered her heritage with this Lebanese song "Aatini al-Ney" "Give me the Flute" with lyrics by Kahlil Gibran. It's quite beautiful.

A prayer for unity offered as a last encore:

Here's Lost in L.A. recorded by my sister Marcia:

My sister has also posted NEeMA's Dire Straits cover," Romeo and Juliette:"

NEeMa gave me her e-mail address and I sent the photo links to her and also told her that I would give her high-resolution copies of any of the pictures that she may want to use.

Very nice photos and a very photogenic subject. She looks a little like Patti Smith only not as hard.

Yes, she does resemble Patti [in a far softer way]. She's lean in both body and face and has that darkness in her hair. Her beauty is even more distinctive in person than in photos, too. Her eyes are huge and deep. She really looks like an ancient goddess.

I never saw an ancient goddess having been born as recently as last century. What are you thinking of, a Greco-Roman statue ? Which one?

I'm not thinking of a particular statue, but of what I imagine a real-life goddess would have looked like... maybe queen of the gypsies would work, too. It may have been someone I saw in a movie or film once... or a photo ... not really sure. It's just how I feel when I see her. Seeing/meeting her in person really clinched it. I can so easily visualize her at a night fire or dancing around a fire... or moving through dusty or cobblestone'd, narrow streets.

I think you see yourself. :D

Haha... too funny :D . And I think the most 'far fetched' of what I see might be the film industry's version of what an ancient goddess or queen of the gypsies ought to look like. The 'real life' one might have been more likely to be overweight or with poor teeth or rough skin or tangled hair. I'm thinking I may have seen a film when I was very young or maybe some very old photograph where a woman was depicted as or looked like a goddess, which still hearkened to 'ancient' for me.

Must be some Jungian archetype but I can't bring it up to consciousness.

Hmmm... maybe :) .

Returning to her performance, it's easy for me to imagine her charming a room.

If I may interject. Nadine (Neema) is a woman...very much her own woman. She has no connection to any ancient goddess...and I personally find no physical connection to Lizzy Cohen, except perhaps the wildness of her hair. She is totally and absolutely her own woman. Her songwriting ability is awesome. Her words touch your heart and bring tears to your eyes. She is genuine, with a beautiful naviety that reaches into your soul. I found her concert moving and rockin'! Several songs are standouts, but more on that later. She sings of love, of loss, of the precious moments of life, and of peoples very distant from us, but who perhaps have a better connection with the infinite. Her band is with her completely and they are one on stage! Nadine is a diamond being everymore honed into brilliance.

Thanks so much for bringing me so much joy on March 30th!

I love you Diana (and miss you already)! :D

I am just glad you are speaking from a place of having seen her perform and spending time getting to know her after her show. I would say more, but for now I'll leave it at 'I agree with everything you have said'.
