This just happened to me for the second time in a week. Alas, I keep failing the visual test on my own. :D Those letters are just so darn hard to decipher.

Just happened to me the second time as well. And I'm not even really active here at the moment, so I wonder why they want me... Must be my wonderfully chosen username!

Yes, I struggle with these too! And then I have to re-enter my username and password every time I fail. The whole thing with the lines makes me feel nauseous... :(

I believe that the spammers try out blocks of usernames with automated software; I don't think they target specific individuals... I read that spamming pays really well for little effort!

I've just been informed at my first log in attempt that I've made too many unsuccessful attempts :!: :!:
Three attempts at deciphering the awful code, and I'm here.
While I check messages most days I don't log in unless I've something to say, so can't understand why I'm supposed to have made unsuccessful attempts. Could all of our accounts be compromised? Bloody spammers :!: :!:

Everybody, please make use of the "Log me on automatically each visit" option. Just select that box when logging-in next time.
If you use the same computer, and have allowed the use of cookies, you don't need to log in every time, and the spammers cannot log into an account that is already active and open from another IP address.

Would that I could Jarkko, but I can't. I have tried adjusting the 'cookies' settings, but it just won't work for me :(

Try deleting board cookies. It is linked at the bottom of the screen and then you should be able to stay logged in. I use that option on every website but one day when I came online here I was logged out and had to do the verification process. It has only happened me once though. What use is our accounts to these people unless they plan on sending out messages but sure can't they set up accounts to do that?

Gwen,

I did what you said and it still does not work. Anyway, thank you for trying to help me - I greatly appreciate it!
