Camden Lock Cars Tel 0207 485 4444 charge approx £13.00 for a car carrying 4 people and £18 for a people carrier carrying 6 people. I suggest if anyone would prefer to go by cab, they call and book themselves. I CANNOT vouch for this company, I've got their details from the internet. But even if you were to take a black (licensed) cab between 4-5 of you I don't imagine it will cost more than £20.00 (Harry thinks even less! - I'm being cautious!!!)

That was my guestimate too Padma and if you don't have an oyster card the fare is a standard £2 so I think the best option is to grab cabs budgeting for no more than £5 per person probably less. It is probably the simplest way to do it. 4 to a cab or as Padma says use the mini cab office. Are black cabs common in Camden I would assume there were but I live in Penge and cabs never ever go south of the river so they are rare species!

Me thinks I'll take the cab option

BTW what's all the panic about getting from Camden to the Barbican?

It's only 4 or 5 stops on the Northern Line 15-20 minutes at the most.

I'm finding it very difficult to find a venue that is close to the Barbican and open at the weekends. What we've come up with is the King's Head pub on the corner of Silk Street and Chiswell Street - 2 minutes from the Barbican. They will not let us book a space in advance but they only get busy at the weekends "depending on what's on at the Barbican" !!! I guess that means us! The downside is that they close at 11.30 - but the diehards could go on into the west end of London...or the Travelodge for coffee? We will keep trying to find something but ..........

Yes, come on Michael. What with all your fame and influence, surely you can sort somewhere for an LC gang to meet apres concert. I mean we have people coming from all over the globe, brimming with great expectations of London. You're not just all talk are you?

I think you have done very well in finding a pub in central London (or Sin City as we call it in Liverpool) that stays open until 11:30pm.

I know the situation is more civilised the further you travel out from the centre, but central London has always been a graveyard when it comes to finding somewhere to have a late drink.

One of the many reasons why I think it was recently voted the most unfriendly city in the UK.

Unlike other city centres in the UK London pubs will only serve until 11pm. and then to make matters worse at about 11:10pm the staff (usually Australian) start snatching your drinks from you and asking you to finish your conversation on the pavement outside.

Although I believe that those clubs that Henning was recently telling me about where young ladies dance around poles (poles not Poles) serve beer as late as 5am.

The Kings Head sounds like a bit of find.

I'll do my best but I don't think I will be getting into London in time to make the pre-concert meet up in Camden so the Kings Head sounds doubly good to me.

So remember everybody that after your afternoon drinking in the Green Note those folk with weak bladders must remember that the concert is about 100 minutes long without an interval.

If I don't see ya all in Camden then I shall see you in the Kings Head.

meantime I will ask my alcoholic colleagues at work what they would do around the Barbican at nighttime (which is only a few miles from Chambers)


I'm thinking of the Smithfield meat market area as the workers are up through the night.
