Got my copy (Blue ray) last Thursday

. Ordered it online a few weeks ago at Bol.com. Watched it a few times now and there are a lot of beautiful songs and performances to been seen. What else did we expect

The recording of both sound and vision is excellent and also the 'backstage' extra on the DVD is very worthwhile.
But what’s somewhat missing imho is the warmth and intimate atmosphere that is very present on the "Live in London" DVD. Which is understandable since this new album is a compilation of highlights of a live tour rather then a concert registration.

Amazon UK informed me on Sunday that my CD/DVD is on the way to Croatia.
Last night, some shops in Zagreb displayed the DVD "Songs from the Road" in their windows, where they still have old Cohen stuff as the sales are still in heights because of the July show!
DVD has French press clips sticked to the front cover, so it's the same EU release I saw on merch stand at Austrian show last week.

Looking forward to hearing and seeing the new album in full but having looked at the fine Chelsea Hotel (thanks for the link) that is on it and is being lauded, it reminds me of just how powerful the one from Lissadell House was in August. You can check the Sligo one out here for comparison purposes
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BO04SQwKwAs For me, the Sligo take is superior.

Having returned from a lovely concert in Lisbon I was delighted to find "Songs from the Road" available in my local music store, Golden Discs Clonmel. I like to support local business, if possible. I now have that to look forward to, as well as sorting my own photos, etc., and checking the Forum for all I have missed. Great!!!
(What will we all do next year?....

....)

What is the matter with Canada? First, we didn't get Bird on A Wire when everybody else did, and now, I go to my local record store today, only to discover, GASP, that they only have Songs From The Road on CD!

No DVD!

And, they want the same price for the single CD as the CD/DVD combo is selling for everywhere else. Presumably when (if?) the DVD is released here, they will want full price for that, too. I am not happy about this! What is SONY trying to pull on we Canadians? I refuse to pay twice, so I ordered a CD/DVD from the U.S., and I'll just have to wait (as difficult as that is, since I was really looking forward to this!).
Edit: My day was saved! I found a Blu-Ray at a local store! PHENOMENAL!!! I am floating on air, it was sublime, Leonard Cohen is amazing. WOW!!!

Haven't seen the new dvd but yes, that Irishal Sligo vid is a fantastic performance - I've played it many times. E.g I love the way he begins to fall to his knees when he says,
we have the music.

Hi everybody
It is strange to watch both the last dvds a few days apart (Bird on a Wire and Songs From The road). In the first one Leonard seems to share some strange (if not illegal) substances with his musicians, and in the last one he whitewashes them of essential oils ! Funny, isn't it ? What a lifetime journey...

Another magical release. After having watching it one can't help but feel like they are intimately involved with Leonard at each moment; it certainly brought back memories from seeing him. Every second is just magic, and the Backstage Sketch was wonderful as well, would have been great to hear something from Leonard, but we know he says what he has to say in the songs

......so great having this come on the heels of Bird on a Wire, again, as someone else here quoted "we are so lucky to be alive at the same time Leonard Cohen is", Lou Reed couldn't have been more spot on. Long live Leonard

The CD/DVD and BluRay are here, just in time for the official release date from Amazon.com, fabulous!
(And also: Both came with a Fortune Teller Miracle Fish!)

Is there a reasoning behind the Fish? I don't seem to recall this in relation to anything related to Leonard's work; still, I had a good laugh and an interesting response to what it "told" me!

At this moment, I feel on another level of time and space...or rather, where it does not exist...have just watched "Songs From the Road". Exquisite. From the dark, sensual photos...to the words of Ed...to the incredible "Backstage Sketch" by Lorca (omg!!)...to Roscoe, Dino, Bob, Javier, Neil, Raphael, Sharon, Hattie and Charley...to Chris, Mickey etc etc....and most of all, to Leonard.
His songs will be there long after I am gone....because of the words...because of how they touch our hearts and souls. The connection can't be explained...it just simply IS...like my next breath. Thank you Leonard.
ps..my little miracle fish just kept rolling over and over and over....
