LC's been surrounded by many more in past 18 months. many many more.

You can think of it as an LC special way to thank his devoted fans, for blissfuly "tying" him to the stage in the tower of song...

That is so beautiful, Sharon. Your words brought tears to my eyes.
Thank you for your inspiring interpretation.

Coincidentally (or not?) there are just over 20,000 members of the forum! :D

Hi Mary

This is indeed very interesting, and since our man does not smudge the air with his song, to paraphrase one of his great songs, this might be a direct reference to us.

sturgess66, thanks for posting the pictures of Leonard. He looks great, rested and with maybe a few pounds added. I also like the GQ look with the facial stubble. And Mary, I wouldn't be surprised one bit if the 20,000 angels line was a reference to us here at the forum. He mentioned us more than once towards the end of last years tour.

Mary, that is one of the most moving observations. I do not believe there is any such thing as a coincidence. No matter the reason for his changing the words, and he is known to do that often because he continues to refine his works, that number was bashert, destiny.

you're so very welcome, Arlene! thank YOU for creating such great piece of memorabilia for the forum.
Just as I clicked 'submit' I had a hunch I should have looked up the forum to investigate why 20 thousand, but still at work & didn't have time, so thank you Mary for enlightening us with the forum number observation.
Like Arlene, I don't believe it's a coincidence and am convinced now, routing from that hunch earlier and by Knowing his nature of careful choice of words, that it was LC's special way, which he always has, cryptic or not, to thank the forum members.
He is such a mentch, I'm in awe every time and again.

I can't think of a better word than 'bashert', Arlene. It encapsulates all of this in it.

Wow they just had Seal announce that Leonard Cohen won the lifetime achievement award - an all of thirty second announcement (if that) before introducing a Pink performance. How utterly disappointing. Couldn't they have at least shown Leonard's acceptance speech? It seems as if attention is given in inverse proportion to the importance of the occasion.

Agreed. Maybe 10 seconds. Almost blinked and missed it.

Patrycja, here is a Tweet by Jian Ghomeshi, who did that great CBC interview with LC at Leonard's home in Montreal
jian ghomeshi | Toronto, Canada
That is ALL for the Leonard Cohen acknowledgement (approx 15 secs) and then throw to a Pink performance? Shameful. #Grammys

That was awful. Literally no more than 20 seconds. Jian is right to be upset.

Thanks, Arlene. It sums up what we're all feeling. They're actually doing that for all of yesterday's recipients. Tasteless decision. I think I'll go and watch Jian's interview again. Cleanse the palate.

Oh, and HMUnger, at least we too got a chance to experience the modesty of their interest in Leonard's work ;-)

This is a Grammy weblink for Leonard Cohen.
Can anyone figure out what's happening?
I can see all kinds of little bits from his life's work.
But, it is moving too fast.
I wonder if this was used last night at the Lifetime Achievement reception.

EDIT:One way, right click on the screen, zoom in, roll your mouse over the screen and different still shots pop up.
I am sure there are better ways to view this. Any suggestions?
