The UK - the Bank Holiday is on Monday 30 August. Bank Holidays here are exactly that - days when the banks (and therefore the financial markets etc) are closed.

So now you know!
You took the very words from beneath my fingers ;-)

Well sincere apologies to our Irish friends and fingers crossed for the beginning of July, but ladydi - I am quite certain of upon which days the bank holidays fall in the UK!

Just been confirmed for July 31st in Lissadell House. This is brilliant news, never thought I'd get to see Leonard here in Sligo. Roll on July.

FANTASTIC news,I am SO happy!

Ireland's weather was so bad this winter, I think we qualified as a Nordic country and they managed to squeeze us into the list.

Looking forward to seeing lost of Forum friends in Sligo.

Good luck to everyone for the presale.

Marie

Oh I'm just so delighted, having missed Dublin last year.
Nothing will stop me from going to Sligo. What's Lissadel house like, anyone? Had a quick look and there's a huge courtyard, or could it be in the grounds. Anyone know? Carlow Mike, how much more do you know??
Look forward to the pre sale. :D

Wonderful, thank you to all who lobbied and toiled over this. Leonard said at his concert in Belfast that it may be some time time before he passed this way again and i really never expected him to be so close.

The miracle has come ! :D  :D Well done IrishMar and all those who encouraged Leonard to return to Ireland. Great credit is due to Leonard and his team for being willing to slip in Sligo between Salzburg and Malmo; a lot of travelling involved there. I think we were all afraid to say anything for the last few days in case it wouldn't happen, but now let joy be unconfined !

I understand it will be in the grounds. Originally it was to be a 3 or 4 day concert, with possibly Cat Stevens and maybe Westlife playing also, not sure if that's still the case. We should hear more details in the morning

Well now after buying some Organic Seed for the "Bird" I hear there may
be a second Leonard Cohen concert in Sligo during that
Bank / Public Holiday Weekend . July - August 2010.
Leonard is humming ...
"I'm Coming to Reward Them
First We Take Sligo
Then We Take Malmo
After I "Follow Them Up To Carlow".

:? he wants to visit our famous Dolmen :)

My head is spinning! I JUST today emailed my hotel in Sligo to cancel the 1st and 2nd, but I'm arriving one day earlier now....on the 29th. S--t, if the next concert is on August 1st, the hotel is probably going to charge me double for rebooking  . Well, I will do whatever...even sleep in the street for a second concert (er, well, maybe not ;-) ).
