When is he touring??

Post by Paula »

I have not been very active on the site for a while but it is coming to the end of the year. Does anyone know when (if at all) he is going to tour.

Whenever there is any news about a tour you can bet that Jarkko will be one of the first to know  and will alert us here.

Unfortunately no decisions have been made, and this means that at least in Winter/Spring 2007 there will be no tour. Leonard concentrates in finishing the new songs for the next album!

But the way you phrase that, jarkko, you imply that there is a strong possibility of an eventual tour?

I don't know how strong it is but the possibility has not been eliminated.

Oh, come on! He found touring physically and emotionally exhausting even when he was a lot younger! How do you imagine he is going to cope with it in his 70s? Do we really want to put him through all that just because we'd all love to see him in person?
Ok, I guess he needs the money, but I for one don't want him to kill himself.
And anyway...

I suspect we would be disappointed...
Only just found this video of LC:

This one does make me cry.

Impossible for me.

What causes you to suspect that, Fljotsdale?

Paula, I am very disappointed. That was a 'newby' type of question. Please try harder. Perhaps you would like to start a 'fave song' thread, or maybe a 'when you first heard the master' instead?

p.

p.s. good to see you still around.

I think sadly that Fljotsdale is right. And he has to retire sometime or should we in our ego press him to tour untill he drops. He is 72.
In Toronto in May he has some trouble with the lyrics for "So long Marianne" as seen here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e842XqQAu-Q

No Leonard has all the rights to take it easy and in one interview
he said that he liked it now with the days just passing by and nothing
happening.

I'm only 21, I'd like my chance to see him. If that can't happen, then fair enough. But it would probably take me quite a long while to get over it.

My aunt and uncle saw him in '85, that kills me.

My only experience of Leonard live was in Toronto this Spring.

He knows what he's capable of.

One can only hope!

I recently saw a video where Edith Piaf who was in terrible physical condition was asked why she continued to tour when her health was so bad it could be suicidal. She replied, quite modestly, that singing was the only thing that made her happy. I think age had less to do with it than how much a performer likes to perform.

partisan, That was a mean-spirited reply to Paula's sincere question.

Well Partisan - one way to encourage people on here is to cut the legs from under them when they ask a question you don't like.
As a matter of great interest - what would your own exciting new thread be? I'd love to hear. We could all learn from you.

Oh we learned much from Partisan! He's the real legend & we're happy to have him around (although long ago he always was the star of the day on board).
