I Come and Stand at Every Door - Pete Seeger
Re: I Come and Stand at Every Door - Pete Seeger
Three lovely songs. It is sad to reflect that humanity, if that is not a misnomer, will never change.
Re: I Come and Stand at Every Door - Pete Seeger
Glad you enjoyed the songs, Tony. We (humanity) have been this way for around 200000 years, starting out with rocks, sticks and stones.
"I will kill you if I must, I will help you if I can"
So Long its been good to know you (Woody Guthrie)

The first and last song in the new Dylan movie, sung by Cisco Houston here. The old guys had an appealing simplicity.

Hello again, Kush.
Taste of Ashes.
Here is a song by Laurie Lewis. I bought the cd a long time ago. The years pass by, nothing changes, but hope flickers eternally.

She also sings a version of ‘Peat Bog Soldiers’.

The cd , ‘Spain in my Heart’, has an introduction by Pete Seeger.

Thanks Tony. Enjoyed both tracks. I did not immediately recognize the name of the artist but then remembered Kathy Mattea had covered a couple of her songs on her Calling Me Home album.
Here is The Wood thrush's song.

Thanks, Kush. Very enjoyable. I had not listened to Kathy Mattea for a long time but only yesterday I was playing ‘455 Rocket’! In the second song above there seems to be an element
of Irish music with the regret and wistfulness.
Here is a well known Irish song performed by Mary Black, ‘Raglan Road’, that contains the same emotions.

Very nice Tony I had not heard that song before.
I gave her gifts of the mind,
I gave her the secret signs,
That's known to the artists who have known
The true gods of sound and stone.
The melody is quite similar to 'I Come and Stand at Every Door'.

The words are by the Irish Poet, Patrick Kavanagh. The song, sung by Luke Kelly of the Dubliners, appears in the film, ‘In Bruges”. The film itself is very good. Here is the link to Luke Kelly’s version:
