Leonard Cohen September 24, 1974 Complete Concert

Post by alb123 »

I just finished uploading another complete Leonard Cohen concert. This time, from Berlin, Germany recorded on September 24, 1974. The set-list is:

Play the full set-list here: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLA016D16E28668DAE

2) So Long, Marianne
3) Love Calls You by Your Name
4) One of Us Cannot Be Wrong
5) Diamonds in the Mine
6) Why Don't You Try
7) Joan of Arc
8) Who by Fire
9) Lady Midnight
10) Hey That's No Way to Say Goodbye (1)
11) Tonight Will Be Fine
12) Chelsea Hotel #2
13) The Stranger Song
14) A Singer Must Die
15) You Know Who I Am
16) The Partisan
17) Story of Isaac
18) Famous Blue Raincoat
19) I Tried to Leave You
20) Sisters of Mercy

22) Take This Longing

27) The Butcher

I hope you enjoy the show as much as I did.

Oh, one more thing. The Leonard Cohen Files lists this show as having 28 tracks with "There Is A War" being performed twice, song #23 and #26. I believe this is incorrect. For one, it doesn't make sense that he would play the same song twice, so closely together. Leonard has performed "Bird on the Wire" twice during one concert, but he usually will do something like open the show and then close the show with that song. I believe that my set-list is, indeed, correct.

If you want to select individual songs, rather than play the entire concert, feel free to go to my main user page at: http://www.youtube.com/user/ALB123Videos

Thank you
I went to his concert a few days later in Amsterdam , on october 2 in the
Jaap Edenhal
A memorable event because he shook my hand when he arrived at the venue
The thing is that I can't find anything about it
Not even a setlist
I assume this must be a very similar setlist

Hi Irenehilda

I checked the (now offline) Leonard Cohen Live website and they don't have a setlist either:
https://web.archive.org/web/20070819113 ... s/1974.htm

I'll look into it later.

Well...you tried...
Since it is so long ago my best memory is the handshake I got
I was early and waiting outside with a handful of others
A limo drove up , he got out and we all got a handshake
And there are a couple of photographs Gijsbert Hanekroot took...
So I know I didn't dream it ...😇

Maarten
can you please let me know which book you used for the above mentioned check.

Does anyone know where I can find a list of the Leonard Cohen concerts and performances for which recordings exist? Although 'LeonardCohenFiles' includes detailed lists of all tours including setlists if available, it does not give any information regarding recordings.

Thanks

Hi Thomas

I've checked a couple of books:
https://www.leonardcohenfiles.com/book28.html
and
https://www.leonardcohenfiles.com/book21.html

But neither book offers a setlist of the Oct 2nd concert.

If you are looking for more info, Jim Devlin and Christof Graf are the people to you need.
Graf: https://www.leonardcohenfiles.com/graf2018.html

The website Leonard Cohen Live (I'm Your Live Man) offers a good indication of available recordings but is no longer online. You can still visit it through the WayBackMachine (web archive) here:
https://web.archive.org/web/20070624063 ... nlive.com/

I have quite a extensive collection of bootleg/audience recordings myself in which I can check aswell, of course.

Feel free to contact me through email, we've mailed before regarding the Copyright Collections, I believe.

All the best

Hi Maarten,

thanks a lot for your helpful comments. Especially the website 'Leonard Cohen Live' is obviously a great resource regarding Cohen's concerts and performances and whether they were recorded.

I have read about the books by Christof Graf but I were a bit sceptical whether they are really informative as his website (https://cohenpedia.de/) looks a bit confused. But after your recommendation I will try to get these books. Particularly Volume 3 seems to include extensive lists of the tours.

Regarding some bootleg / audience recordings I have sent a seperate email to you.

All the best

Thomas
