Another interesting thing about your photograph is the number of Australiana references that I can see...

Indeed, there are several souvenirs of trips I took to Australia visible in that photo! I like to decorate my house with things I pick up on my travels, and I seldom redecorate -- mostly, I just add things to what is there -- thus every room holds a lot of precious memories for me. As it happens, there are bits of Australiana all over my house -- one room features a giant inflatable platypus!

the phpBB software seems to still be running amok. the webmaster recently updated the forum's data in order to iron out the creases, but an element of instability persists. when time allows i'll experiment again, but i naturally have no complaints if image size remains unlimited.

i did wonder about the flag in the 'old montreal' painting, but regarded it as being unimportant due to being mistakenly convinced the dome belonged to the london skyline. as st paul's was built 170 years before the marché bonsecours one can speculate whether the canadian architect was inspired by mr wren.

the image 'titles' had no real connection to the pictures, were just meant as fun, or to add a little more substance to the post. at one time recently i suspected titles that exceeded a limited number of characters were causing errors when attempting to upload. also, i wondered if my practice of uploading a maximum of three images per message (to keep the number of my posts to a minimum) was causing the uploading errors. something is happening and we don't know what it is, do we mr jones! i am sure the forum's software issues will settle down and diminish in time, then no more of all this technical talk will be necessary.

so kind of you to tell me you enjoy my illustrations, alan - means a lot. i feel intuitively that you are frequently somewhere in the background, and always appreciate it when you come out from hiding. never hesitate to show yourself.

If you look closely you will see the scratches suggesting that it has been used frequently.
My parents also had one over 60 years ago.

yes, with such high resolution the scratches can easily be seen. with its two prongs and serrated edge, quite a versatile little tool. i have a couple of them. a norwegian person invented the paper clip too, which i am sure you also have, alan. i hope you are keeping well

Thanks for that warning about the Galileo thermometer. I've had mine quite a few years now, and no explosion so far. But then again we don't get extreme temperatures here in Ireland. Just extreme 🌧

i don''t got no thermometer except one you stick under your tongue if you're not feeling too good. it's got mercury in it so you mustn't bite it. if you don't know what mercury is it's also called quicksilver (you can google it). it's very heavy, and poisonous, and your finger stays dry when you dip your finger into a cup of it. in norway you have to get permission from the police station if you want to buy some. they will ask you why you want it so you have to have a good answer. for breakfast today i had scrambled egg on four pieces of buttered toast with ketchup, followed by a bowl of piping hot carrot soup with a sprinkling of basil. many modern thermometers don't use mercury no more. instead there's some red stuff in there.

i could, of course, add a 'title' outside of the pic - but that wouldn't make any sense.

i have either influenza or a strong cold. symptoms are tiredness, sore throat, dry cough, headache, painful back, runny nose and sneezing. a covid test i took gave a negative result. internet interaction has been temporarily stalled until i recover.

jeg har enten influensa eller en sterk forkjølelse. symptomer er tretthet, sår hals, tørr hoste, hodepine, smertefull rygg, rennende nese og nysing. en covid-test jeg tok ga et negativt resultat. internett-interaksjon har blitt midlertidig stoppet til jeg blir frisk.

thank you. i hope this finds you in good health. as for me, it has been a long time since feeling so unwell, but take solace in believing a guardian angel is looking my way.

i have completely lost my voice, by the way, and i'm endlessly tired. am eating lozenges for a sore throat because it's difficult to swallow. i have a dry cough, a headache, pain in my lower back, a runny nose, red watery eyes and i'm sneezing the whole time. i get bouts of depression and dizziness and have no appetite. when managing to grab a few moments sleep i have the most god-awful dreams. i am just so weak, and trembling, have not even dared to take my temperature because i'm sure it'll be sky high. all i know is that i have lost all colour in my face and feel so hot and clammy, my sheets and pillows are soaking wet. there is this nausea like i need to throw up, shortness of breath and total exhaustion, and i've got tinnitus - a loud ringing in my ears. apart from that i feel all right, it's not in my nature to complain.

it was a kind-hearted gesture of you to write. another few days and i will return with fresh vigour

Oh, and it wouldn't hurt to do another Covid test -- sometimes the first one shows negative -- you have a lot of Covid symtoms for the latest strain.
