Thanks Tony. I had never heard of Johnny Seay and would have sworn this was Johnny Cash. Even the way he plays the guitar below.

Hello Kush,

Thank you for the link. It is amazing that he is virtually unknown nowadays. Here is another of his songs.

Thanks Tony. Always interesting how these gems come our way every once in a while. I have heard a number of his songs now and checked out his website as well. Will probably put together a compilation at some point.

'If' reminded me a little bit of Gordon Lightfoot's If Children had Wings.

Hello Kush,

I can see what you mean about the Gordon Lightfoot song. He sounds so much like Johnny Cash and here is a song written for him by Johnny Cash and June Carter.

Hi Tony and Kush, I only discovered LC music this past year and love it! BUT, finding through seeing snippets of a forum post that LC mentions Willie York who was my father's neighbor and subject of one of his many song's titled
"Willie's Drunk and Nellie's Dyin'" is just incredible. Kid Marley was certainly well known to me as a child as a longtime friend of my Dad's, i heard his name often. C. Daniel's is backing my Dad on a 12 string guitar for the recording of one of my favorites Dad wrote and recorded, "If" (mentioned w/link above). It seems to come full circle finding via this forum C. Daniels backed LC. Musically, the death of my Dad, Johnny Seay (aka Johnny Sea), opened my eyes to a spiritual connection between souls past and present. Seems to be that all my many music Friends, adventures, etc., end up reverting back to my beloved Father in some form.
Johnny Seay was killed May 2016 in West, TX. The wing of his aircraft clipped a guideline as he was cropdusting, another passion of his for almost 40 years. There is an interesting documentary about Willie York from Kid Marley on YouTube. I will try to post the link for anyone who may enjoy it.
I happened across this forum late last night as I scrolled and WOW! I may have heard it mentioned, but didn't realize Cohen was the man whom Willie York stole that gun from..lol.
I remember Dad telling a story about this and how "the fella" (LC) apparently thought it was comical. So many stories I could share! I'll try to do just that here in LC forum soon.
All my best... Amber Seay

Hi Amber,

As you see from this thread I only discovered your Dad's music through this thread. He has a wonderful voice. Sorry to hear of how he passed away, which reminded me of an LC song Who by Fire, who by water. I have also checked out his website and his story is very interesting.

Best

Hello Amber,

It is fascinating how in this world people’s lives come into contact with each other through different ways. Your father was a very talented man and your love and admiration for him show in your words. I am glad that I have discovered his music.
