Thanks for the reminder about this program - a great listen! Will have heard most of the new album by the time it arrives but I guess I don't mind. Some beautiful arrangements on the cd, and glad to hear real instruments.

What a brilliant radio programme, virtually the whole 2 hours dedicated to Leonard, interviewed in Paris by ole Jarvis about 10 days ago. Interesting questions - and interesting and funny answers, of course. JC made LC laugh several times, which was nice. If you haven't heard it yet, let me encourage you to find it on the net.
Lots of the new album played, but also some gems from the beloved John Peel's Top Gear radio progs back in the late 60s. You should hear John P raving about Bird on a Wire back when it was first released (and Leonard's version from the 60s.)
This will stay with me for a long time - lovely to listen to.

What great afternoon. Leonard still has that infectious laugh. I loved the bit when he said he lost the notebooks with the masterpieces in.
I recorded it on disk so that my friends who could not get to a radio yesterday will not miss out on this wonderful interview.
Thanks Jarvis.

Very enjoyable show! Only complaint is when Jarvis called Bird on the Wire, Bird on a Wire! I was growling it is Bird on THE Wire

Love them both anyway so it was very touching to hear one interview the other. I thought it was a very warm interview as you could hear the respect Jarvis has for Leonard. A great show, cheers Jarv
@Musicmania - I'm sure Jarvis kicked himself about it, he was nervous though(he even mentioned that before it was played) I remember once in a Radio Times interview he said at one stage all he had on his ipod was Leonard

The conversation between Leonard and Jarvis went out on-air the day before the album release. It's been clipped up for the website and can be found at http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00nnx4z
I am in the process of doing a second version of this interview that will go out on Radio 2 on Wednesday 15th February at 10pm. This will be the full interview with full tracks and other pieces of archive.

We did a second version of the Jarvis interview that went out on Radio 2 last night. We changed some of the tracks and the poem but the actual interview audio is the same as the previous transmission.

Missed this interview. Unfortunately I cannot listen to it on-line from India. Pity, since it would have been interesting to hear what Leonard has to say on the songs of Old Ideas.

...MANY itinerant North Americans have temporarily alighted in Camden. In Hampstead alone one remembers Tony Curtis displaying his paintings at the Catto Gallery, David Soul plotting politics in La Gaffe restaurant, and Leonard Cohen drinking in the King William IV. But very few of them have been as colourful as the poet Joaquin Miller (1837-1913)...
