I just got a copy of the new US paperback of my book, hot off the press - so hot I was forced to wash it down with a nice cold glass of champagne! Whenever a new edition comes out, the author gets really nervous - we don't have any say on the quality of the printing etc, we just have to hope they've done it proud - but I must say they did a great job with this one:- good quality cover, good photo resolution and the book spine, which has a photo of Leonard doffing his hat, looks very cool on the shelf. In fact I think I'll have a second glass of champagne to celebrate!
Oh and I just heard from the Chinese translator that their edition's coming out early next spring...

Congrats! But I'm not sure that swallowing it was a great idea.UKsylvie wrote:I was forced to wash it down with a nice cold glass of champagne!

Bravo Sylvie, for the publication of your book in pocket size and savor your pleasure! The success of your book is deserved well.
Can you hope soon for a french version?
I am so impatient for 1 year.

How WONDERFUL, Sylvie!
I may just have to get a copy of that one, too
I love seeing all these different versions coming out... and seriously hoping, after all the heavy work you did, and all the heavy lifting you've done since, that you're personally benefiting.

Hi Sylvie
I've just finished your biography and want to thank you for a thoroughly interesting and informative read. I enjoyed the chapters on Hydra, particularly since I was there earlier this year, and I'm returning in September. I intend to find Leonard's house this time and drop in a birthday card, although it's a pity he doesn't spend time there any more.
It would be great to have the lyrics of Leonard's songs to hand when you're discussing them - I suppose there are copyright restrictions on what you can include in the book. The reproduction of the photographs isn't great; they're fairly murky and hard to make out. Maybe that can be improved. In relation to the content, my only regret is that the deep devotion of Irish fans isn't reflected and there are no descriptions of the Irish concerts.
Many thanks for your account of Leonard's life to date - it is a great achievement to let so much light in, while at the same time maintaining a respectful distance.

Sylvie, the book is soooooo captivating! I bought the hardcover at an airport in Dallas and cannot put it down. I stop and go to youtube or my music library to visit or revisit each of the time periods you talk about, so it's taking some time but I am loving every minute of it. My only wish is that there were more photos, and that they were larger. What are you working on next? I love your thorough style.
