Re: Manchester Meet Up
The old wellington inn looks like a good choice to me .
i've just realised i was there in may and it has a certain charm as well as good food and beer(and wine , gin and tonics etc )
It would (hopefully) not be too busy in the early evening. it wasn't on a wednesday evening in may !
Is anyone clear what time the show starts??
I'm guessing 8pm but it could well be 7.30 . I don't expect to have actual tickets as a source of information for a while yet !

Re: Manchester Meet Up
I agree that the wellington inn can be busy especially if the weather is very nice however the only football natch that day is a 12.45 early kick off so dans likely to have dispersed by 5pm. Also wellington is 2 minutes from concert venue and a

Re: Manchester Meet Up
In the absence of any better information, I think we should assume that all the UK shows will start at 7:30 pm (or 7:45 after the customary 15 minute delay) as the O2 show did in June. I rang the Bournemouth BIC box office yesterday about something else but took the opportunity to ask about the start time for the Leonard Cohen show. The information she had on file was that the show would start at 7:00 pm! I doubt if it will be that early but I also think it would be wise to assume an earlier start than 8:00 pm. One thing is for sure: the tickets are not going to help us. One of our London tickets arrived today and all that says is "doors 18:00".cohenadmirer wrote:I'm guessing 8pm but it could well be 7.30 . Reading this post Clive I'm assuming you're trying out all the potential venues. Re: Manchester Meet Up
I'm quite happy to stick with the Wellington - looks nice and does food. As I said in my earlier post,( and Clive confirmed), it is a lunchtime football match.
I don't really want to be too far from the venue and a couple of friends are disabled when it comes to walking much distance.
It looks like doors open at 6.00pm and the concert starts at 7.30pm.

Re: Manchester Meet Up
What time do people suggest we meet at Wellington assuming show starts at 7.30 and we want to be inside venue by 7.15 which means leaving Wellington at 7.10. Shall we say 6.00. Earlier or later?

If people want to eat and I know someone who wants to, I would say 5.00/5.30pm.
I will be there about 5pm.
Re: Manchester Meet Up
5 mins to get inside the venue Clive? You must be a born optimist. Based on the long lines I've seen outside some venues this summer, I am going to allow at least 30 minutes!clive cass wrote:What time do people suggest we meet at Wellington assuming show starts at 7.30 and we want to be inside venue by 7.15 which means leaving Wellington at 7.10. Rodin, In France at end of 2 week holiday so got mt Latin and northern quarters mixed up. Here's me telling a Parisian legend like Rodin the obvious.

Re: Manchester Meet Up
I also agree with Rodin about venue and suggest somewhere quieter would suit us better to get to know each other a little. At same time it must be easy to find and say 5 minutes from venue with food and drink. I also agree with a 5pm meet up and allowing extra time to ge in but after going to men arena at least 50 times i have never found it take more than a couple of minutes to get in. will check out a couple of places and perhaps anyone local like myself can make the decision on everyone's behalf. Rodin you suggest the Radisson which I think is a good idea. Shall we liaise and decide together?
