Do you like flamenco also?

Post by Tchocolatl »

"According to Spanish press reports, Cohen will explain in English why he loves flamenco, and then, in short clips between 30 palos (songs), will explain about the art. As a fan of the art, as well as Garcia Lorca, and of Andalucia, Cohen was a natural choice for Lebron."

"The plan is to film the five programmes in October this year, to coincide with the Sevilla Bienal de Flamenco, for release in January 2013."

Jian Gomeshi/Q had Paco Pena (apologies, don't know how to type the accent on the 'n') playing Flamenco guitar live on (my beloved) CBC this morning...

Superb!

Me too Lizzy – he is always well-informed and prepared for his guests. No doubt it is a team effort, but the research is thorough.

I enjoy his opening essays/commentaries too.

Oh, Tchoco!

Dance is one of my great loves, and your pic of the Flamenco is very compelling. When I was in Mexico City, I had to forgo a Flamenco 'extravaganza' due to uh...an unfortunate and sudden illness.

My photo-blog has many such beautiful posts. Thanks for the post.

Linda.

Yes, I love Jian's essays/commentaries, too, Sheila. He has a great speaking voice, too.

I've missed volumes of information over the past several years for way too many reasons, Linda. I'm glad that Tchoc posted this for us who didn't see it the first time around.

The article on 1heckofaguy.com speaks about starting the recording of a series of 5 episodes in October 2012.

Does anybody know what the current status of that recording is? I would love to see it.

My pleasure, Liz and IF and AnnePorter and FIIFMNAY (forgive me if I forget to mentioned your name all of you). :)

Linda_lakeside! I was wondering about you! So very nice to see you posting again! :D

Franks that was my read-between-the-lines question. (Not that reading the lines is not first required.). I guess that all flamenco lovers over here are curious to know what is happening with this project. Now that the Old Ideas 2012 Tour (buzz) is over and the 2013 is not yet under the spotlights. :)

It's good to have things brought to the front from time to time, as we do lose track of things that we'd like to remain aware of... the nature of life, as back burner items get pushed off in lieu of new back burner items.

"It seems to be somewhat abated at the moment, but I don’t think one ever gets a handle on this matter; I think one is vulnerable at any moment to those emotions. One becomes more circumspect as one gets older about everything—I mean, you become more foolish and more wise at the same time as you get older, more careful and more careless. It all just deepens—but I don’t think anyone masters the heart. … It continues to cook like a shish kebab in everyone’s breast, bubbling and cooking and sizzling."
