VELOVERMONT wrote:I today's edition of La Presse ( Montreal),there is an article by a journalist who is somekind of an insider to Leonard's orgnisation. From a very recent conversation with Rob Hallet and Robert Kory, respectively Leonard's promoter and agent, it transpired that it is almost a done thing that Leonard will touring again, in 2012, after the release next fall of his next album.

Many thanks, Roger.
Here is the article "translated" by Google Translator into English:
(Las Vegas) Verse 1: 45 pm at night from Saturday to yesterday, Leonard Cohen has pointed in a small room in the Colosseum in Las Vegas, Celine Dion's house, where awaiting friends and admirers. He was immediately surrounded by followers who wanted him to say something, ask for an autograph or have their picture taken with him. Cohen finally allowed to leave the self-imposed isolation to devote himself entirely to his first tour in 15 years.

You should have seen Leonard Cohen to move slowly, carefully, among the people who pressed him so closely that it looked like detectives in the old Dick Tracy cartoons who always moved en bloc. The elegant little man, wearing his hat forever, hardly spoke, except to thank its loyal by rewarding a smile that spoke volumes about his appreciation of the work. A little after midnight, he had officially wrap her world tour with a concert remarkably strong emotion, a matter of half past three, not including intermission, before a delirious audience. He finally allowed himself this minibain crowd after saying no to almost everybody, even the largest, which had requested a hearing for three years to better focus on the task at hand.

Saturday night, Cohen did not particularly his 76 years. He sang, said, reciting and playing with energy, passion and humor as an artist who masters its effects so it has integrated all the tricks of the trade he enjoys now to reinvent. Great art. You should have heard him present his musicians and singers with elegance, emotion and humor almost surreal when it came around the drummer Rafael Bernardo Gayol, sculptor of silence, then jailed Aryan Brotherhood recruited before converting to Judaism and to be excommunicated for having lighted the candles of the menorah (Jewish holiday) Hanukkah in the mess!

Friday, Cohen had even led to a string of caustic jokes about the place "odd, strange and not so magical and made great efforts not to be" where he finished the tour. The audience came from all over - Caesars has never been so many bookings over the internet for a unique show - a good laugh, which he did not associate either the poet often referred incorrectly to the dark Capital of the game

The idea of closing the loop in Las Vegas was not Cohen, who would have preferred finale in Portland is more like it, but the promoter Rob Hallett of AEG. In 2009, Cohen had already sung at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace where was deemed too risky to co-produce this concert, which not only sold out, but was sacred concert of the year by the press in Las Vegas. This time the developer to explain the very British humor that is a little tease for the artist he revered since his teenage years he has completed his tour in Las Vegas at the end of Hanukkah.

Hallett has had to be convincing that Cohen agrees to embark on such tour in 73 years. The artist was wanting to redo a monetary fine after being cheated by his ex-officer, he was afraid of breaking the mouth after 15 years absence from the scene. "I promised that I would pay all the rehearsals - three months - and if he finally decided to abandon the tour, he should do me nothing," says Hallett.

The tour began "quietly" May 11, 2008 in Fredericton and has continued without any promotion in the Maritimes and even in Saguenay. Only a few months later in Europe, that Cohen felt sufficiently reassured that this triumphant tour - 247 concerts to more than 2 million spectators - continue step by step until December 2010.

By the next time

Hallett is already drawing some conclusions from this adventure. The next time - because there will be a next time, it's almost been established - Cohen forsake theaters to arenas in which, curiously, is better suited his show. And there is no question of participating in festivals: a Cohen is himself angry juror after Coachella, where Morrissey began her concert a little early so we rarely had promised to Cohen, all other scenes remain silent during his one hour performance.

Cohen Why is he not returned to Montreal, his hometown where he still has a house after three sold-out preview of the Jazz Festival 2008? "It's all about routing, logistics," says his agent and attorney Robert Kory. "Montreal is special for Leonard, said Rob Hallett. It is sung three times, and he feared that people get tired of it. But next time he goes back to Montreal through the front door. "

The next time will probably be in 2012. After the launch of a new album of original songs, his first in seven years, scheduled for fall 2011. Kory teaches me that 10 new songs are already written. Cohen has played the piano in his band who have repeated, but the recordings to date are essentially models that will work in the studio. The excellent touring band of Cohen - "the rock'n'roll band the softest in the world," said the singer - will attend for sure, but it is also about the artist that recorded some songs with Jeff in Montreal Fisher, musician and arranger who had worked on the album I'm Your Man.

Cohen has already incorporated some of these new songs in his show. Including The Darkness, a very organic blues, rock trend, with the guitar, organ and saxophone and premium text flavorful with just the right amount of derision. Cohen's great. "There is much in the blues these days," says the singer Sharon Robinson. In Las Vegas, the public does not ask for better, for he was warmly adopted The Darkness. As he applauded Saturday ballad Born In Chains where female voices are clear and that Cohen has described as "a new song on our appetite for prayer."

Decidedly, Leonard Cohen has a future.

John Etherington wrote:Hi Inna,

You asked for my astrological theory about Leonard touring. I found that several of Leonard's major tours had occurred when Jupiter was moving through Taurus (this happens every twelve years). Being optimistic, I suggested that we might get some more Leonard concerts as early as next June. However Jupiter takes approximately one year to move through Taurus (including retrograde motion) and March - May 2012 looks even more promising. I'll be able to fine tune this, when we get more info regarding Leonard's plans.

All good things, John E
Thank you John for replying me. The fact that Leonard's next tour is backed up by the stars, or shall I say, by heavens, or the One above, is cool. And not surprising.

Hans,
Nothing is concrete. We are simply living in hope that this may happen. Like good LC boy/girl scouts we are trying to be prepared by working hard so that if it does become reality, we will have the funds to do it again :D

As we all know nothing is guaranteed but I can tell you that Leonard does want to tour again. While he didn't tell me this crew members did. Robert Kory told me that if it can be done it will be done. No one knows what the future holds but we do have hope. Most of all I wish Leonard well and should this come about I'll be in heaven and I'm just so happy to have the memories that I do have.

My husband and I flew to Las Vegas from Vermont for Leonard's December 11 concert at Caesar's Palace...it was worth every effort that we put into getting there, what an awesome show-we loved every minute of it. We would be so pleased if Leonard put on a concert in Montreal, which is an easy drive from our home and such a beautiful city. The Bell Center would be a such a perfect venue. Almost very morning and evening we listen and watch Leonard Cohen Live in London DVD, for it's very relaxing and soulful to us. We wish that Leonard's next album is in Dolby Digital Sound as we had the Bose system installed last year and it really brings out the best in the music. Our only regret is that we did not discover Leonard Cohen's brilliance until now, and at our old age of 69 we have become "Leonard Cohen Groupies"...we can't get enough of his music!!

Olympic Stadium?

Oratorio St-Joseph?

Montréal's Casino?

I strongly suggest the Biosphere on St-Helen's island.
