The only time given now on the POD site is the 4pm gates open time. Maybe they're trying to get people there early, (a good idea! ) or maybe the actual starting time has not been finalised yet?

Carlowmike, thank you for all the work you are doing for the Sligo Concerts. Janis and I are traveling from Canberra for the Saturday concert and it will be great to meet you and the other members of the forum at the Garavogue pub. Our trip is very short, but as you can imagine, it will be one of the great experiences of our lives.

We would love to shout you a big pint when we meet.

It is people like you who make this a wonderful world.

I do not contribute to the thread for "newbies" (horrible word!) seeking "help", because I am not one of them, and it is becoming more ridiculous by the minute. The Sligo threads mess is now the butt of jokes on other threads, eg Salzburg, and no wonder!
And if anything is presented to Leonard I hope someone with good English checks the inscription and ensures that if it needs an apostrophe it gets one!

We live in hope that he too will soon attain the pleasant and harmonious plateau which we have reached. Organised meets in a 500 seated drinking emporium and fretting about car parking and shopping in sligo are sooooooooooooo far removed from where I am at.

I want to wander along the country road, smell the mid summer grass, feel the anticipation that is in the folk all around me, find my pew in the field, listen to the country sounds and chatter of the assembling crowd, eat delicious sophisticated junk food and warm beer from over priced concessions, sense the penultimate hush, see once again Roscoe and Neil and hilarious Dino and regal Sharon and Rafael and sublime Charley and Hattie and the truly brilliant and charming Javier as they troop on stage, and experience for the sixth time the moment i though 2 years ago i would never ever have the privilege of seeing - Leonard BOUNDING on stage to entertain me and a few friends - i am anticipating it so much it is tangible and I just want it to be now!

How right you are, swan13. I remember the "Irish Times" reviewer of Leonard's Dublin concerts referring to "the dignity of the enterprise" ; Leonard certainly has style and dignity, which I hope will be respected.

How wise you are, roan; maybe we should ALL follow your example and have a moratorium on Sligo, at least until about two weeks before the concerts! In the meantime the people with the real job to do, mainly Sligo Gardai, will hopefully beaver away at ensuring smooth running of the event.
FanForLife, I love your atmospheric descriptions - reminds us of what it's all about, the music.
