Leonard for Ireland?

Post by IrishMar »

Wouldn't it be great if that became a reality!

On my recent visit to the USA for the last two concerts of '09 I took every opportunity to make a request that Leonard re-visit Ireland. I started with the Man himself. I also asked quite a number of band members. At the after party of the San Jose concert I had the good luck to meet Robert Kory. I pleaded and I begged, Robert told me that he would tell Leonard he barely escaped with his life, as he was unable to commit to anything at that point. Not done yet, I met Ed Saunders and the poor man had to listen to me state my case for quite some time. He did agree that the atmosphere at the Dublin concerts was something special.

I was speaking to lots of friends on the night, old and new, from many countries, who expressed an interest in travelling to Ireland for a concert if Leonard were to return.

Does anyone share my longing for this to happen?

I have never yet had the chance to see Leonard in Ireland so it would be great if you could fix it for me Marie! My grandfather was born in Cork and I really love the city so that would be a grand place to see a show.

Hi Marie,

I was standing right next to you when you were pummeling Ed Sanders ;-) , and I remember telling him that if Dublin ever happened again, I for one would be there, as I've always wanted to experience first-hand the Irish audience! Count me in! :D You guys are awesome!

Have travelled from the north of Scotland to Dublin to see Leonard at Kilmainham and the O2. Dublin is a wonderful city and the perfect place for a return visit. The atmosphere at Kilmainham was unbelievable and the O2 was a fantastic venue apart from the lack of synch. on the screens. Obviously a return to Scotland, maybe Inverness or Aberdeen this time, would save a few miles of travel but the chance for another visit to Dublin would be irrresistible.

If Leonard could not make it to Australia, I could not imagine a better alternative, than being at a Dublin concert, singing So Long Marianne with the amazing Dublin audience.

Yes, He will sell out in Ireland for sure. Maybe add Cork dates to Dublin (and what about the new opera house in Wexford). LC and the band are so consistently brilliant, the only real variable is the venue - and Ireland hosts a brilliant gigs. That said, he is due back in the UK, this year, he was just passing thru.

Marie thanks for starting this thread. I was witness to your pleas and stories to Ed Sanders late that night in the wee hours of the morning in San Jose in the Fairmont Lobby. You were so eloquent with your choice of words and pleas and praises for the Dublin concerts! a bit tipsy too but that only helped your cause... ;-)
If there is a concert in Dublin or Cork I for one would do everything I could to come. My love for Eire started at age 20 when I fell in love with a young man from Cork while living in Amsterdam. I haven't been back since then. Count me in! and I would love to see your fair city and you and Albert and Bill's Bar again!!!
Waiting patiently for the next lag/ part of the 2010 tour to be revealed.
