Oh, and who was it who, when charged with putting together a "Summer Pops" thought, Simply Red, Deacon Blue, and, oh yes, of course, Leonard Cohen :D
Bizarre, but I love them!

It is named the Luverpool Echo after the local newspaper. I think. I bit like our gigantadome the Manchester Evening News Arena here in Manchester. Aren't they imaginative when coming up with these names?

Hi All,
Just in case people are starting to plan their trip to Liverpool, here is a link to Liverpool hotels.

http://www.liverpoolcitycentrehotels.com/

The Campanile and Dolby (and youth hostel) are nearest and cheapest, but the city centre is only a 25 minute walk to the Arena.
Nearer to the date restaurants and pubs will be highlighted.

The Arena isn't too bad,but as with most arenas, the better seat you have the better the experience.
For the recent Bob Dylan concert I was in Block A row J seat 15.
A great seat and a great concert, marred only slightly by an enthusiastic fan jumping onto the stage and hugging Bob.
I imagine security will be stricter from now on, so hard luck ladies of the forum!
Look after yourself and (each)others. All the best Dave ♫♫♫

For some reason this list doesn't include the Premier Inn which, as someone has already mentioned, is right next to the Arena -

Liverpool Echo Arena - Tuesday 14 July

Post by Jeremy »

Starting to anticpate this concert with a lot of pleasure. I'm very hopeful that the size of the venue will not be a problem - I was able to see Leonard four times last year at Edinburgh (open air), Manchester Opera House and the Albert Hall (relatively intimate indoor venues) - and finally on the last day in November at the Manchester MEN.

I wasn't too hopeful of the MEN, but my friends and I agreed after the show was over that the sound/musical quality there was probably as good as it was at the Manchester Opera House, and deinitely superior to the Albert Hall. The atmosphere was just fine too.

So I wouldn't assume that just because it's a large venue, the overall experience will be any the less than at smaller joints. They seem to know what they're doing!
