Hi again~

Truly see the other person. Let "loving-kindness" be the guiding principle in the way you relate to others; not forcing your own ideas upon them.

Here, Peter, we do agree. And it's actually not so different from what "surrender of self" means in practice. If both of us drop our particular religious language, I think there are certain very essential things we have in common. And Lizzy and bee, as well.

:D

Vesuvius~

A reminder, to all of us, phrased in the words of Stuart Davis:

Why, why do you hate me?
Why? I'm not the things I do.
Jesus, Jesus loves me.
You should find a way to love me too.
I'm just like you.
I just need love.
Can't we be friends?

And having just re-read some old posts, I found this quote by C.G. Jung, kindly related to us by Makera:
"Love is a force of destiny whose power reaches from heaven to hell."

The wars of the mind can be fought in a gentle way!

Ciao Taigaku!

Yes! That was my point. Italian irony in my post. I think it did not translate well. So I will be more hard. There is many Christian bashing (I think the word is) in this place by certain tolerant Leonard fans. Sad to see.

Dear bee
We never feel so alone as when we get carried away by our passion in a destructive way. That our retoric tend to get violent from time to time is also my experience as any one who have read my postings on this forum can tell. As leonard Cohen wrote

"So many hearts I find
hearts like yours and mine
torn by what we've done
and cant unddo"

or

"Mercy on our uniform
man of peace man of war
the peacock spreads his
deadly fan"

or

"and draw us near
oh bind us tight
all your children here
in our rags of light
in our rags of light
all dressed to kill
and end this night
if it be your will"

or

"everybody knows
that you're in trouble
everybody knows
what you've been through
from the bloody cross
on top of calvery
to the beach of malibu"

or

"when hatred with his package comes
you forbid delivery"

and as the last word from LC (my way of saying yes and being happy about your offer to reconcile with me)

"So come my friends
be not affraid
we are so lightly here
it is in love that we are made
in love we dissappear"

Best wishes
Peter

Dear Peter, thank u for forgiving me and being gracious :D
Yeh, for sure that is true, there is a big difference between saying something or writing :? Sounds horrible without the presence  .
What disturbed me in this particular conversation probably was fault of my own. Observing your convers. with Lizzy I came up with criticism of some christian churches who practise the doctrin of neseccity for personal salvation. This comment of mine somehow led the conversation to the wrong direction. For some reason I expected you to be aware of that, that is what upset me, sorry again.
The problem there is very complex in Christianity of modern times- in protestant churches as well as in Catholic.
Besides, Lizzy's question was more that about the essence- how to get Christ and how to be free and happy with Him. It was not about her discomfort.
be back later
