Woke up this morning with 'I can't forget' running through my mind. Maybe it is the mp3 player that I was listening to and fell asleep with. It's a terrific song (as they all are). :D :D

The Smokey Life - didn't notice it much until recently, but now it keeps going round and round in my head... :)

The Smokey lif is indeed a beautiful song. It sung in my head quite some time ...Light enough ...To let it go...

My favourite right now is: 'The night comes' on and this line repeats in my head: I wanted the night to go on and on... But she says ..... Go back, go back to the world!

Yes, TineDoes, I love "The night comes on " too; in fact, as I posted elsewhere, it was the first Leonard Cohen song I fell in love with, which started me listening to his songs. I particularly love the last verse - the crickets, the vesper bell and "the cat's curled asleep in his chair". Very cosy and comforting to listen to, especially at night . :)

I am sorry, I didn't read back far enough. The lines you quote are indeed lovely and they portray a very beautiful and cosy image. But, at the end of that verse the lines: 'And the night comes on /It's very calm / I want to cross over, I want to go home /But she says, Go back, go back to the World', it seems that the narator wants to go to a different home that's on another side, and I dont think it is to the land of the sleeping. However, the narators seems to get told that it's not his time yet to go to this other side. Which is the more comforting, to know that one will sometime cross over or that there's more living to do in this world?

While, this is a duet with Elton John, but I can listen to 1000 times in a row. The forum said it SuzanneT.
Oh, I love it.

I switch about daily but today I had to take a bus instead of using the car. I took my ipod and Leonard was blaring in my ear, Tonight Will be Fine - from LC LIVE SONGS.
It was as much as I could do to stop joining in or tapping my feet as he really gets going on that track. I love it and played it through 3 times. I just had to remember I was on the bus!!!!

I too have to go with Joan of Arc.... as much as I love all his songs this one is the one that really gets to me :D
Could live with this one forever. If I was only to pick one to listen to on a Desert Island this would be the one.

Most recently for me it's been Famous Blue Raincoat and Nancy. Both so haunting. Give me a week or 2 and it will be something else. I just can't stick to one "favorite" for more than a few weeks but since there are so many great ones to pick from, that's fine.

My favourite is Bird on a Wire is simple, honest and raw. I also like: Everyone knows that closing time (which used to working as a DJ at a biker bar and often played the last song of the night...

Right now I'd say "Who By Fire".
I like every single word in it.
"Oh chosen love, Oh frozen love
Oh tangle of matter and ghost
Oh darling of angels, demons and saints
And the whole broken-hearted host
Gentle this soul..."
