The Scattered Songs

Post by Yankovic »

THIS THREAD IS ABOUT SONGS THAT LEONARD COHEN PERFORMED ON OTHER MUSICIANS ALBUMS

I wish SONY would release a CD like this for Leonard!

If I owned an independent record label I would get the rights and pay for all the previously released, studio recorded songs that Leonard Cohen lent his voice to on other musicians albums and put them all together on one CD. The booklet would include all the lyrics and credits, with the names of each one of the original ablums that each song came from, plus the stories behind each song and how Leonard got involved with each one of them. I would also add Never Any Good and The Great Event to this CD because they were the only new songs that were included on the More Best Of cd, which was an odd place for them. This collection (for the most part) is strictly for songs that Leonard Cohen performed on other musicians albums.

Here is the Leonard Cohen Files page on this topic:

Another scenario would be to make it a 2 CD set. The 2nd CD would be just for the Book of Longing tracks that Leonard Cohen lent his voice to. This would make room on the first cd for any other songs that Leonard Cohen lends his voice to on other musicians albums in the future, if any!

Has he ever recorded Priests? One of my favourite songs, but I have only ever heard Judy Collins sing it.

Hold the phone...he did Sound of Silence on a Paul Simon Tribute album??? What was it like? Of course the Amazon link has no song sample, arrgggh. Also, his track is the only one with an asterix next to it and it's not clear why.

Can the song be downloaded anywhere? If not I will just have to shell out $38.99 and buy the whole album for one LC song. lol
And I do love Paul Simon...it's just that I probably wouldn't buy a tribute were it not for LC on it.

The asterix is because it's a bonus track and spoken word. It's not on iTunes.
