What a great, GREAT photo of you four!!!
Imaginarily taking your places on the bench ~ love it.
So hope to be able to see the real thing.
The lighting in that spot is wonderful for photos!
Thanks for this, Wijbe.

Re: How to celebrate Leonard's 80th birthday
How about collectively donating to a cause that is near and dear to him in his name. I am sure that there are some of you who know what they are specifically. My private wish for him is that the rest of his life is is a long one that is stress free and full of contentment. Oh, and that when he lights up on the big day, that after one drag he happily puts it out and wonders "why the hell did I do that?"
Re: How to celebrate Leonard's 80th birthday
If there's money left after the bench has been constructed, donating it to a cause dear to Leonard is certainly feasible, and we know of at least one he would be pleased if the money were to go to. However, the bench plan is already a given, if it gets all necessary approvals, on which we are waiting. I believe we all share in the remainder of your wishes for him... at least I do. Some may not agree on the last, but I for SURE do!

Re: How to celebrate Leonard's 80th birthday
I am afraid I have to bring you an update that is not so promising we all were waiting for.
We have today received technical details and the approximate budget from the architect in Greece.
The plan of the bench is above and looks fantastic. Also the location could not be any better.
However, his estimate of the total costs is 9000 eur including VAT (sales tax) of 23 %.
This amount covers not just the bench, wooden back-rest and metal plaque, but also the necessary work around the bench (see photo).
Our problem is the fund raising - I am not sure if we can collect so much - we would need almost 400 contributions, if each is 25 eur.
So, what do you guys think? Your ideas and thoughts will be very much appreciated.

Re: How to celebrate Leonard's 80th birthday
My thought is that it is only 200 contributions of 50 euros each ($67.14 US) --I would certainly pledge that amount for this worthy cause. Now all we need are 199 more?
Re: How to celebrate Leonard's 80th birthday
Some ideas are just too good to not be fulfilled. I'd say to go for it.

Count me in.
I'd pay more for a concert ticket - and I'd go to (many) more than one concert.
