I know one translation from Misha Schoeneberg. It is Hallelujah, sung by Max Prosa. For my feeling it is a successful translation.

Schoeneberg founded the artist-initiative "Leonard Cohen in german language" 1993. It was planned that his partner Rio Reiser sings the songs. After his early death in 1996 (RIP Rio) the project rested until now, when it was implemented in honor of the 80th birthday of the great master with other vocalists in the act. I have read (do not know if it´s true) that Leonard has granted his approval for the songs.
On his birthday there will be a concert of these artists in the Kreuzberg Passion Church with the title "Berlin celebrates Cohen".

I finally bought this tribute album and noticed that it is not much discussed here on the forum. I don't know if there are many German speaking users here, but for those who know German I strongly recommend you to get a copy.

Most of the artists were completely unknown to me and I had no idea what to expect but I am highly satisfied with the result. In my opinon, the lyrics translations are mostly well done and although not all songs are on the same level, some sound very very good. I love the german versions of One of us cannot be wrong, Alexandra Leaving, So Long Marianne and the Gypsy's Wife!
