William - Pleased to hear that you bought the Webb Sisters album on the strength of their performance last night. Check out my lead review of "Savages" on amazon.co.uk
John - Your review was the first one I read and it was one of the reviews that persuaded me to trust my instincts before downloading the album. So far I agree with every word - been listening to Savages all day - but I'll leave it a couple of months before writing my own review to give me time to find some new insights.

Ah, I left after First We Take Manhattan :( mum had to work the next day and we live in Oxford. Anyway it was a lovely performance. Second half was better than the first, I think.

I also think the delivery of Hallelujah wasn't the best. The Gibb sisters and Sharon Robinson were brilliant. Alexandra Leaving was beautiful.

Chelsea Hotel was probably better than the studio version. Very strong picking of the guitar, really effective.

The Gibb sisters? A Bee Gees splinter group as last minute replacements for the Webb sisters? ;-)

I see the truth is out! Apparently the Gibb Sisters were booked at the last moment as the Webbies needed a night off (the idea being that most people in O2 wouldn't notice the difference). I thought their uncanny resemblance was astonishing, but I'm sorry that Leonard didn't revive his version of "To Love Somebody" in honour of their brothers. :)

First time I'd seen Leonard live after more years as a fan than I can remember - and he didn't disappoint! I felt embraced by his warmth, honesty, frailty and sheer humanity. Such strength, delicacy and self-effacement. Every phrase distinct, so deeply felt and reverently uttered. And what a band! The highest standard of musicianship in a true ensemble. My partner wasn't a fan before this concert - she was only there to humour me - but by the end she was in tears, such was the power of the experience, and is now a convert. She was especially affected by the beauty of the Webb Sisters' rendition of If It Be Your Will. Thank you, Leonard, for a magical evening! And Happy Birthday for Saturday!

The absolutely sublime Recitation performed by Leonard Cohen at the O2 last night. I wrote a post last year [ http://howupsetting.tumblr.com/post/311 ... many-years ] about my experience of seeing him for the first time and there’s little to add to that now. Suffice to say that he didn’t disappoint the second time. As my friend (who was having his own first experience of Leonard live) said, “he takes you on a journey” and you feel that you’re witness to the mysteries and majesty of music. It was a fitting and satisfying end to a Sunday which started with the new Britney dreck.

You can see the full set of photos and videos here. http://www.flickr.com/photos/88190593@N ... 570875935/

Beautiful photos ... Could there be a hardback album of the tour/the countries/the songs/etc???
I was at the 02 and appreciated the experience (and, truth to tell, the chopped ending of the concert so the rush and squash for the tube was not so overwhelmingly anxious for a Sunday night).
The memory of the music stays ... Comparable to Alexandra Leaving ...
As Leonard wrote: " there is a crack in everything ...". Plus "... Well, that's my story. I admit it's broken and it's bleak ... but all the twisted pieces fit a thousand kisses deep."
All the twisted pieces do fit into something very, very wonderful.
Thank you Leonard, and all your troubadours, for an amazing experience to witness this tour.
Haste ye back. "Will ye no come back again? Better lo'ed ye canna be ... Will ye no come back again?"
"You let me sing, you lifted me up, you gave my soul a beam to travel on. ... You gave the injury a tongue to heal itself."
Leonard Cohen in Book of Mercy (1984) Ch. 19.

I guess it can be completely up to us. We can make an album of brilliant, memorable pictures without involving professional photographers and press archieves. By us I mean the Cohenites, from Forum and Facebook, Flickr users...
It can be done as a free e-book.

Being a pedant, I do like the idea to include photos which represent different countries or various songs. Some particular order, in other words.

Goldin -
sadly, i am a technophobe ... But my depths in this are outweighed by the possible encouragement and support i could offer.
Such a book would be wonderful.
P'haps ... if there is enough positive feedback ... this could become a new thread?
I'd love to see pages of Leonard looking happy - beaming and dancing.
Also, Sharon singing and dancing;
the Webbs wearing tiaras (even cartwheeling?);
Javier's focus and interaction with Leonard;
the ethereal shadows behind the musicians (... The Gypsy violinist ...)
... Magic ...

"what do others think??"
