Re: Julie Christensen's new album - A Sad Clown
Thanks B4Real. I like the sound of the album. I will get it soon and possibly her previous one as well (The Cardinal)
This was pretty cool too....
Yeah well, you and me
Yeah we’re off scot-free
Like Bruce on a bike with some boardwalk queen
They two lanes’ll take you anywhere,
But I guess they’ll take you on down
Down past Myrtle Beach

Nice to catch up with you, Kush
Yeah, I noticed that reference to "The Boss" especially almost the same line from his song Thunder Road except Bruce's line is, “These two lanes will take us anywhere.” I've also since realised that this song, Exile On Myrtle Beach was written by Darrin Bradbury. I then watched a live video of it by him and I have to say that I prefer Julie’s version. Another one I like is Slow Blue Fly and this thought-provoking verse from it.
Broken sign by the Trinity Southern
Never been changed by the drunken breth’ren
I sure hope that message lasts
Says "Every Saint Has A Worried Past."
It's half a mile out of my way
But I drive by there every day
Here’s another link where Julie explains how the songs were created –

Re: Julie Christensen's new album - A Sad Clown
Hi B4Real,
I actually ended up downloading The Cardinal at this time. I am going on a road trip towards the end of the month and thought the driving beat and sound of The Cardinal would be more in sync with the tires hitting the asphalt Plus it has The Anthem as a bonus track.
Thanks for the link - I was curious about Vienna, Illinois !

Re: Julie Christensen's new album - A Sad Clown
Thanks for the kind posts on this topic!
Julie here. If y'all enjoyed my record, The Cardinal, I think you might like the music by the post-punk rock band I had to leave just months before being asked to go on tour with Leonard in 1988. The band is called Divine Horsemen, and I'm very proud of my participation in it. Since my ex-husband Chris D., the other co-founder of the band, turned his life around a decade later, we have been on great terms and I've sung on a few of his other "Flesh Eaters" music projects, including their outing on YepRoc last year called "I Used To Be Pretty." And NOW in 2019 and 2020 we are rebooting Divine Horsemen with a new album in the can (release TBA later in the year), and a 'live' collection from back in the day (1983-88 is when the band was formerly active.)
A NEW SINGLE TRACK, called "Mystery Writers," from the new album is currently available for pre-order through bandcamp at this link: http://tinyurl/preorderDH. When you order, you'll get one of the live tracks immediately, and the single on July 3, 2020, a week before its wide release.
