Stories of the street

Post by shadowgun1102 »

Hello everybody, I may be wrong, but the melody of the song "Stories of the street" reminds me of another Leonard's song. Can anyone help me to find it?

It was good of you to post this, as it made me listen to "Stories" for the first time in quite awhile; and a second time; and a third time! I had forgotten how much I like this song, how beautiful the guitar and lyrics are.

As to your specific question I do not know if I can be much help. Although quite a stretch, the melody slightly reminds me of "Teachers" and "Blessed is the Memory," but maybe that is only because they were from the same era and were on the same album (the latter as a bonus track when the album was re-released). Perhaps someone else can provide a better answer your question, if an answer exists.

All the lyrics in "Stories" are exquisite, I especially marvel at the ending couplet:

"We are so small between the stars, so large against the sky,
and lost among the subway crowds I try to catch your eye."
