Margaret, Yma Sumac is/was an Inca Princess with a remarkable 4 octave range. "Born high in the Peruvian Andes, a descendant of the last of the inca kings, Yma Sumac spent her childhood literally "talking" with the birds, the beasts, the winds, the sounds of life and nature surrounding the little village of Ichocan." When she was discovered by the rest of the world, particularly the USA she was brought to western classical music as an opera soprano. The album I have is of traditional Incan folk songs interpreted her own way. A voice like no other!
