If Leonard checks this thread I wonder what he will think of us Cohenites

debating around in circles

Leonard I am listening to your music here, ( I stand in ruins behind you)
as are the others (I am sure ;-) )
We are all getting worked up a little because there are now only "72 Days To Go"
Watch us all singing and dancing together in Lissadell. ;-)
Now more suggestions Please...

slightly creepy feeling reading this thread. hope it doesn't put people off too much.

all i want to do is wander along a country road, park my butt in a field, absorb the atmosphere and smile at lots of other aging hippies and their kids and sit and listen to the man and his wonderful band as they once more transport me away from banal realities like they did in places like kilmainham and the O2 and tampa and madison square garden and san jose.

really really really looking forward to the concert and hoping it’s the perfect mix of kilmainham 2008 and san jose 2009
2008 - dublin (kilmainham - the best, ever)
2009 - dublin (The Point) and tampa and NY(MSG) and san jose
2010 - sligo (second best) and oakland and portland and las vegas
2011 - lenny and me were resting, so we were
2012 - dublin (kilmainham again) and austin
2013 - dublin (The Point, 2 times)
2014 & 2015-enjoying the memories and saving the pennies; just in case; just in case..............

A few members have contacted me ..
and on reflection I may have been hasty or nasty to real-alan..
he has contributed several positive comments in recent times to this Help thread ,
unfortunately I have only seen his irksome (to me !) ones.

I withdraw my earlier comment and as he said tonight
"I would miss him if he left"
I think he may be right on that.
real-alan please accept my sincere apology for my speedy re-action,
I guess I am taking this "deadline" too seriously :(

As I said before after tomorrow this is a Fun thread combined with help and advice if required
from each Member. ;-)

Wassup :!:
I turn my back for a minute and I miss all the excitement.
Is the concert still on :?:
Are we all going :?:
Seriously we should all be friends on this Forum and turn out our best side for Leonard.
We have established good contacts and friends, let us not lose them.
I am looking forward to seeing if indeed our presentation to Sligo council will be acted upon.
Off to sleep now, hopefully the morning brings Peace and good Health to you all, goodnight, jeney.

71 Days To Go

Yeats wrote "for peace comes dropping slow, " and so it is.

Update:

We now have 11 suggestions to place before the "Coming Together For Sligo" meeting on Tuesday next.

The bookings for the Dinner on Friday 30th continue to come in, we now have about 20 places left.

I have been told that some restaurants in the town intend to plan for late opening over the weekend, Keith will have details later..

More information on shuttle buses and link for booking seats + car parking arrangements - coming soon.

Yeats also said: Those that I fight I do not hate, Those that I guard I do not love
I certainly hope that LC has better things to do with his time than reading the minutae of the various Sligo threads. However, if he is lurking he will see that the forum is a broad church and that we are all fallible and human. Leonard knows better than most, if only by dint of being older than most here, about human frailties. Canonisation or demonisation are both very extreme stances and ones imho best avoided. I have enjoyed the divergent opinions, the windups, the pricking at pomposity etc., and have derived some small pleasure from adding my two cents worth at times. Since the announcement of the concert the only thing which 'really' got my goat was a new member who, with his first post, offered accommodation at immoral prices and his subsequent dissembling. I expressed my ire at this and, while I do not know him from Adam, the demonised realalan also commented along similar lines to mine. This was a very positive contribution, and to my mind not just because he agreed with me, indicates his values are in concordance with the forum as it was constituted. The forum was set up when LC was metaphorically in the wilderness by those who wished to keep the memory and the music alive, before mammon stepped in. Everybody now has some opinion on Leonard, famous impresario and west of Ireland man Louis Walsh stated it so well when he said ‘everyone seems to have a version of Hallelujah, I even heard that Leonard Cohen does one.’ If realalan, myself, or others snipe a bit from the sidelines then all we are doing is expressing a counter opinion and that, too, is allowed. The core meaning of the visit to Sligo is, for me, as always about the music all the rest is a sideshow, an entertaining one, but a sideshow nonetheless.

Good morning,
Does anyone know if there are tours of Lissadel grounds or house planned for the weekend of the concerts ?

I know there was a dispute over right of way matters but maybe peace has broken out in honour of a great entertainment weekend. :!: jeney

With apologies to jeney for taking her words slightly out of context, I hope this will now be the theme for the whole weekend and the build up to it.

BTW tours would be a great idea jeney.

bickering like schoolchildren, talk about losing the run of yourself. Deadline for ideas for Tuesday's crunch meeting is Saturday just in case anyone needs reminding. George Mitchell may be flying in to lend a hand.
