Thanks Brendon
The Darkness video is a real treat! I have not seen this song performed live at the concerts I have been lucky enough to attend.

Dean,
Thank you for this report as well as all others, which ere able to bring the Down Under tour a bit closer to us on the other side of time and date line... your photos are great too!

Brendan, your vids are great and so is your story. The universe has its ways if one only keeps the door open.
I found 'The Darkness" vid to be the best version I heard to date, I just loved the arrangement,it seems like it puts everyone in a special emotional state of mind.. from LC's presentation to Bob and Dino's solos.. I also can't stop smiling at the sight of Javier playing an electric guitar... so used to see him mastering his classic one.. :-) but hey, put any set of strings in his hands and be sure magic tunes will follow!

With NZ/ OZ tour being over and the troupe already in Vancouver, it really does start to sink in that the end is near.. my god..

Hope everyone's having a great weekend, with or without Thanks Giving - we all have a lot to be thankful for.

Best,
--Sharon

Anybody like to dance?

Ok, not many to go now (of my videos), so I still hope people are enjoying them.

It's time to take a waltz...

Thanks Brendan. I'm definitely enjoying. :D

I haven't seen video of this song from other shows recently, so I don't know if this is something new to just this show
- but Charley is singing some solo parts - and then duets with Leonard - at the beginning.
And it sounds like this occurs later in the song as well.
Hattie's duet with Leonard is delightful - as always.
And I love these Leonard/Javier confrontations.
And Leonard seems to be very - um - jovial. 8)

Hi Bev,

glad you liked my Hanging Rock pix ... As for the kangaroos that were suspiciously clustering around the Hanging Rock venue -- surely they can only have been there to pay homage to one of their own who has risen to star status (at least amongst roos) ever since she (he?) went on the road with Leonard.

[for everyone out there who's scratching their heads ... go back and read the Brisbane thread :-) ]

All hail Matilda :-)

Every time I hear this song I melt and swoon to it. Mind you, I'm not referring to this version specifically, but the song itself. I have a couple of covers of it by other people, and those do it to me too.

Only one more video to go after this one, but I've started uploading a few live song videos I took this past weekend from a couple of gigs in town here, and it is good music, even if it isn't Leonard Cohen. So in an unashamed plug for my own stuff (and I'm making nothing out of this at all) if you get a chance you might get a pleasant surprise if you look at my other videos on Youtube as well.

Two-song video

Post by brendanobrien69 »

Okay guys...here's the last vid I promised, and it is actually two songs, as I forced myself to hold my arms up through them.

So long, Marianne, and First We Take Manhattan

And I know there is a misspelling at the video page.

Enjoy one and all!

Thank you , thank you, Brendan! :D :D
Somewhere in the back of my mind - I thought you had more!!
I had not forgotten.
I'm really glad you endured the pain - and didn't put your arms down - and got "First We Take Manhattan." It only hurts for a little while.
The back and forth between Leonard and Javier is delightful. And great laugh from Leonard after "Remember me"

Wonderful video!!

Just a quick heads-up: most readers of the LC Forum will probably know by now that there exists a (currently circulating) audience recording of the Hanging Rock concert. If this is news to you, scoot over to the "Collectors Corner" section of the forum and read the last few pages of postings in the "audience recordings" thread.

Inspired by the existence of this entirely unnoficial 3 CD set, I've taken it upon myself to design some CD artwork to go along with it: take a look at http://lcdownunder2010.wordpress.com/cd-packaging/, and you will see my Hanging Rock CD Packaging. (As should be obvious,) I'm no graphic designer ... but hopefully these designs might be interesting or useful to some folks here.

Leonard's performance at Hanging Rock has just won the prestigious Helpmann Award as the best international concert following his record breaking tour. The tour has been described as "the best live show" to ever come to Australia.
