LC now runs the shortened setlist all the time? I see there's no Sharon's songs although she's back... and Ain't No Cure plus Closing Time gone also.

Melbourne, Night 1 (12 November 2010)

It's late ... so the report will have to wait, but here's the set list of songs played on the night ... some significant shuffling -- Famous Blue Raincoat moved from the encores to Set 1. And Democracy was re-introduced ... which I don't believe has been played for a while.

02 The Future
03 Bird On The Wire
04 Everybody Knows
05 Who By Fire
06 Famous Blue Raincoat

09 Waiting For The Miracle
10 Anthem

Set 2

11 Tower Of Song
12 Suzanne
13 Avalanche
14 A Singer Must Die
15 Sisters Of Mercy
16 The Gypsy's Wife
17 The Partisan
18 Hallelujah
19 I'm Your Man
20 A Thousand Kisses Deep [recitation]

Tom,
I'm guessing that with all Australasian venues being stadia with the exception of Hanging Rock, the requirement for a local artist as opening act and the possibility of a curfew could all add up to a shorter LC set.
Opening artists at the Leconfield concert (winery near Adelaide) 26Jan2009 started at 5pm and LC started at 7:20pm. He finished just before 11:30pm - I doubt there was a local curfew anyhow.
Opening artists at Sydney 08Nov2010 started at 7:30pm, finished at 7:58pm. LC started at 8:14pm and finished at 11:25pm approx.
34 minutes less for UHTC to enthrall us.
The Hanging Rock (outdoors, away from houses) report will be interesting.

Mary,
Sydney had "The Darkness", at least on Monday 8th - early in the first set.
Enjoyed it more than on the videos I have seen.
Maybe UHTC is getting slicker, but I think music is best live, especially when it is LC.

Without a doubt! Glad to see that Darkness was performed in Sydney. Thank you Alan. I got mixed up with Melbourne, night 1, where it looks like none of the new songs were performed :(

Adelaide (18 November 2010)

The setlist for this night's show was quite similar to the Hobart show. A notable absence from this show was Sharon Robinson ... as a consequence of this, a couple of songs (In My Secret Life and Boogie Street) were dropped from the set. There was the suprise addition of a third encore (I Tried To Leave You) which seemed like a spontaneous decision on Leonard's part.

Set 1

01 Dance Me To The End Of Love
02 The Future
03 Ain't No Cure For Love
04 Bird On The Wire
05 Everybody Knows
06 Who By Fire
07 The Darkness (new spoken intro)
08 Chelsea Hotel #2
09 Waiting For The Miracle
10 Anthem

Set 2

11 Tower of Song
12 Suzanne
13 Avalanche
14 A Singer Must Die
15 Sisters Of Mercy
16 The Gypsy's Wife
17 The Partisan
18 Hallelujah
19 I'm Your Man
20 A Thousand Kisses Deep [recitation]
21 Take This Waltz

Encore 1

22 So Long, Marianne
23 First We Take Manhattan

Encore 2

24 Famous Blue Raincoat
25 If It Be Your Will
26 Closing Time

Encore 3

27 I Tried To Leave You

Hanging Rock (20 November 2010)

Set 1 was played in daylight (i.e., before the sun went down and the temperatures plummeted) -- this was as per the Adelaide show on Thursday. As it got colder, the set seemed to get pared back a little: there were no "additional" LC solo songs (just Suzanne), and just the standard two encores. Because there was (again) no Sharon Robinson, Boogie Street and In My Secret Life were again missing. Probably the shortest show in Aus/NZ (but still amazing!)

Set 1

01 Dance Me To The End Of Love
02 The Future
03 Ain't No Cure For Love
04 Bird On The Wire
05 Everybody Knows
06 Who By Fire
07 The Darkness
08 Chelsea Hotel #2
09 Waiting For The Miracle
10 Anthem

Set 2

12 Tower of Song
13 Suzanne
14 Sisters Of Mercy
15 The Gypsy's Wife
16 The Partisan
17 Hallelujah
18 I'm Your Man
19 A Thousand Kisses Deep [recitation]
20 Take This Waltz

Encore 1

21 So Long, Marianne
22 First We Take Manhattan

Encore 2

23 Famous Blue Raincoat
24 If It Be Your Will
25 Closing Time

Here's the official setlist; a few didn't make it, notably the third encore.

Where is the setlist for the Phnom Penh Concerts. Having travelled up the Mekong for three week I was ready to chill with the Master Songsmith in Phnom Penh...only to find that the concert has been postponed! Bummer....at least I got a refund. The tragedy last night, >300 lives lost ,needs someone like Leonard to lift the kharma on this beautiful people. How about it guys...By the Rivers of Babylon is just the right tune to ring out over the murky Mekong waters.
