Hi,
Can someone tell me if "Hey That's No Way" was played in Bratislava? It's not on the setlist posted here in the first post of this thread, but Wimmer says it's played but also adds "Setlist is correct"
Mmmm...

In the "setlists" thread, someone posted the setlist with "Hey that's" included, in between "Sisters Of Mercy" and "The Partisan", but he (or she) forgot to mention the full encores...

Please let me know!

Thank you Sir Albert! Loved all three of these. Terrific performances by Leonard - and loved Bob Metzger and Dino Soldo in 'Bird On A Wire." And we even got a bit of skipping in Closing Time.

btw - in case anyone is interested - there is a wonderful skipping incident from the Vienne show in a video posted by "cuuliem" - Anthem Part II - at about 4:17.
Remarkable takeoff - and great skipping and a bit of weaving.

Looking forward to more video from Sir Albert. :D

Thanks. You are right. That's why I hate if people talk about him in pathetic way. I doubt they really understand. A vlastne mozem pisat aj po slovensky. Pred nami vychadzala pani Ena Vacvalova s muzom, nikoho ineho znameho som nevidel.

V tej chíli sa mi podarilo odfotiť Sharon Robinson a v jej pohľade bolo sklamanie, tú fotku som sem radšej nedávala, na konci to bolo iné, vyzerala byť dojatá...)))

Thanks Marie for answering my question.
It was good to meet you and Albert, I'm enjoying watching the videos on You Tube as they appear, still hoping for one of Anthem.

The concert was excellent, a different sort of feel to other concerts that i've been too, far less singing along, though the audience made up for it at the end with lots of enthusiastic applause.

Marie thank you very much for the poetry...loved the ending - a sublime self-irony maybe? I suppose Maarten could put it into the setlist....

Oh Albert who can pay for this....
Oh that bird on a wire that was something so close to the bone...
It´s not discomfort it´s pain...but what a beautiful one :)
I keep watching all night long, you have made my day, even my week...
Thank you so much.

I completely agree with everything mentioned above on Slovak audience
(by Silvinka, Bluebell or anyone else)

Ever since I learned that the organizer is buying the first rows for his VIP posh friends I had been quite worried...it´s a little bit cruel and unnatural to limit the contact between the artist and his fans...and VIPs here means what Silvika said, the richest, but definitely not the most enthusiastic ones.
The Incheba owner is not a nice guy indeed, he put the Unified Hearts into unfairly hard condition, but they have managed so gracefully )

Then it´s the little bit of problem with English here - some people here like LC for his pleasant melodies but do not really understand much, can´t sing along or laugh at his jokes...

I´m not sure about this, but was there some lack of laughter?
When singing There ain't no entertainment
and the judgements are severe.
I remember LC saying critics instead of judgements and nobody laughed....Correct me if I´m wrong or if that´s just the other version of the song...
But I hold a strong opinion that whoever thinks Leonard Cohen isn´t funny hasn´t got the joke yet :)

Far in the cheap back left gallery, few of us were trying to produce some sounds of at least Marrianne, but we didn´t manage to create the singing along effect...sorry

To Silvinka and Jozef
Guys who complain about other guys being pathetic are usually the most pathetic themeslves....
Leonard never does. Neither do you :) I´m so glad to meet you here
the VIPs - they are truly pathetic
(si myslia že sú najlepší, suchári)
Of course I´m pathetic, I´ve spent my life getting the most impressive stuff out of the most impressive books. Malcolm Bradbury

Definitely the level understanding the English is not high enough to sing Leonard's lyrics which are not easy to remember either (say my favorite Take This Waltz). Also the quantity of great songs is overwhelming. Maybe if they make a video projection of his lyrics for a slow shorter song (I'd choose Who By Fire) then people would sing along, I'm pretty sure about it. When the end was coming there was a sense of urgency in the hall and if Mr. Cohen made few signs the building would be rocking, I think the energy was there.
The other side is that his songs are kind of intimate and it's not so easy (for humble people or for those who know their singing is a bit awful) to transform into a mass choir. He is no Britney Spears or Depeche Mode to go non-stop at same level. Neither his fans are. That's why I suggest he should tell few words prior to every subtle song.

Pan Lasica je jeden z mojich malych bohov, nijako ma neprekvapuje, ze tam bol. Mimochodom ma dve pesnicky, ktore sa tykaju podobnej temy ako Waiting For Miracle.

Miracles sometimes repeated .. miracle was for me a concert LC in Prague last year and this year the miracle repeated in Bratislava and Prague. Would repeat again .. somewhere, sometime ...
These verses I wrote in a review of a concert in Prague, let them offer you ...
(just bad English, please forgive  )

There is no beginning
There is no end
Now there is just what it takes ..
his music
his words
He

Tips his hat
with humility greets
with the same humility before his audience
bow
and offers own soul
own heart
Himself

Suddenly I feel that I am in the temple
and above me spans from his words and tone
indescribable beauty of the temple dome
I am in the middle of Mass
Mass serving man
who believe every word perhaps
His voice makes my heart beat to the optimum
and I well
and I am painfully
and I have to cry and to laugh
and I .... happy
... at least for brief moments happy
and forget
the world outside
of human wickedness
for sadness
the losses
was about nothing
only music and words to me absorb
a voice resonating in every pore of my skin
I want to marry me shake
and feel it tomorrow
after tomorrow
per year
forever

Thank you, Mister Cohen, I love You 8) ...You're the most beautiful "gift" I received for my recent birthday ;-)
