Leonard back in the UK this summer?

Post by honeyrose » Fri Feb 27, 2009 12:44 pm

Have I missed something? A friend has just emailed to say Leonard is coming back to the UK in June, 4 dates in Manchester and the O2 again. Tickets go on sale on 14th March.
Have they got it wrong?

I would love to believe this is true, but I do remember that the tickets for the 4 Machester dates in June 2008 went on sale on 14 March last year, as did the O2 show in July 2008 .....

Oh well

I wouldn't discount it either. While he has his health and the inclination it is possible.

This information comes from last year! No concerts in UK in June. With 18 concerts in UK last year, I believe that country is done (my own feeling, not based on any knowledge).

I know what you mean Jarkko but to be accurate Britain is four countries
and a couple of concerts -say one in each country- would go down well.
I'll keep my fingers crossed and watch the forum.

I asked this question in the 'questions and comments' section

"Does anyone have any ideas as to what will happen when the US/Canada tour is over? new album? some more touring to promote new album? (preferably to Europe! pretty please ;-) ) Any ideas? For my two cents worth the touring thing seems to be suiting Mr. Cohen down to the ground, hes looking good and really rocking!"

and this was the reply from Jarkko

"IF everything goes well, and according to the plans, the next leg of the tour will be in Southern Europe late summer/fall. The new album has to wait until the tour is over... and looks like it may take some time! ;-)"

so a big IF but hopefully all will go according to plan and I'm thinking Greece for the area of Southern Europe, or France or something, (think there was only 1 concert there in Paris? Could be wrong)
2009 Liverpool 14/07/09, Dublin 20/07/09, Belfast 26/07/09, Lisbon 30/7/09, Barcelona 21/09/09.
2010 Sligo (x2), Lille 25/09/10 Las Vegas 11/12/2010
2012 Wembley 8/9/12, RHK 11/9/12
O2 London 2013 O2 Dublin 2013

Hmmm, 4 countries, one concert in each country .... that makes 4 more concerts for the UK by my reckoning, then there's regional devolution to consider ....

As long as Leonard continues to enjoy the touring as much as he obviously has there is always hope!

I may be wrong but I count
Wales 1
Scotland 3
Ireland 2
out of a total of 77 concerts.
In percentage terms thats three quartes of the U.K. having about 6.6%
of the concerts.
Wales gets just over 0.6% while Ireland saw about 1.3% of the shows.

Leonard would achieve God status if he returned to the Cohen starved masses in Scotland Wales and Ireland.

Burningviolin

I count 5 concerts took place in France.
Spain had one concert and I could make Spain late Autumn-credit crunch permitting.

I like Seville so if Leonards tour manager is looking in.

Hi

I think Jarkko right in stating
This information comes from last year! No concerts in UK in June. With 18 concerts in UK last year, I believe that country is done (my own feeling, not based on any knowledge).

I would like to see him again, but feal that once he finishes the present tour in june, he will stop touring.

He has toured the world and given all his fans a great concert. So lets just be satisfied that we got to see the great man one last time and look forward to the cd's and dvd's coming next month for memories.

So pleae stop putting up false information trying to get our hopes up of a return. We had the same rumour about him coming back to Dublin in December to open up the point, it was rubbish, so let jarkko be the only one to make announcement on tours and so on.

Don't look at me about spreading rumours I'm just quoting what Jarkko said. Check the post in the 'Questions and Comments section and then the third or fourth topic down is 'So what happens when the US/Canada tour ends'. (please note the BIG 'IF'!)

Burningviolin

Seville it is then?

We could do a tour of the sights take in a football game flamenco dancing
and have a meal in that fantastic restaurant at the back of the Cathedral.
And we have Leonard to look forward to also.
