I had PM communication with someone awhile back who was stunned to find out that Leonard would not be doing a 'complete' show at Coachella, that it would be only one set. Reading all these, I'm praying he did not alter his plans based on that. Leonard may have made the best possible use of a single set in musical history. Fewer songs, mega impact!

Surfer Girl ~ Your daughter is awesome! It's not surprizing, yet so heartening, to see with absolute conclusiveness that Leonard's lyrics written with the intention of lasting like a Volvo have done that very thing for over 40 years now... and that the young are resonating with them and with him the same as we did when we were at their place in life 8) .

I love reading [and I'm nowhere near caught up here] and seeing how this tour is securing Leonard's legacy worldwide. The brilliant silver lining to the dark clouds brought in by the winds of Kelley Lynch. The rainbow after the storm. When they say all things happen for a reason, situations like this exactly fit the saying. For Leonard to be able to experience all of this first hand and Live... blissful reward for a career of songwriting and a dogged commitment to excellence. Fulfilling. Good on you, Leonard Cohen 8) .

Here's a video we shot (with our little point & shoot camera) of Leonard singing Hallelujah Friday night at Coachella:

Wonderful video Marsha! I can clearly see the ribbon tied around his left arm; I'm still wondering what that's all about! Also loved your 2nd video, the slideshow set to I'm Your Man. Which recording of IYM is that?

Thanks Esther, it's from Leonard Cohen Live in Concert 1994. I know, I am rather surprised that somebody
hasn't commented on the meaning of the blue ribbon. As far as I know he was the only person
wearing one. Would love to know what's it's about too.

Hi Marsha,

Great little video! I think it is especially so to me because it's from someone I've met and who I know adores Leonard! You were so lucky to be there as it seems to have been a special moment in time....so many young people perhaps hearing Leonard for the first time. The audience participation was great!

I am with Esther and you on this...what about the baby blue ribbon? Another baby for Adam? Leonard? ;-) One of the band members?

I will have to check out your second video. Sounds interesting.

Thanks SO much for sharing these moments with us!

From Wikipedia (in part)

In Canada, it is the symbol of an anti-tobacco, anti-second hand smoke campaign. It has the same meaning in Japan.

In the U.S., a blue ribbon is the symbol of prostate cancer awareness and Child Abuse Prevention.

Thanks for your kind remarks Diana. It turned out to be quite the experience. I just expected to see leonard and was totally aware that it would be a short set. But leonard and the audience made every second count. I was surprised that the majority of the audience was so young and obviously so was Leonard. When he sang Ain't no Cure Love he didn't say "Tell them angels" but this kid shouts out "I love you Angels!
My thought also was maybe Adam had another son but Leonard? Hmmm? :D
I will be looking forward to your report about Red Rocks. It should be great concert!

A quite funny story from Coachella message board:
Ok, this is going to sound like an insult but it's not: He put me to sleep. Literally. Yeah, I had been indulging in some, um, things, but it was his voice. It was like a long lullaby. I told my man I was going to lay down for a bit and not to step on me. Then he told me I started snoring.

The blue ribbon is the Main Stage pass (artist pass) for Coachella. It is usually worn on the wrist but LC chose otherwise.
