This is a very beautiful document for Paul's family, Andrew. I'll review what I PMd you very recently, not realizing that you'd already used what was on the Forum. I'll probably merge them in some way.

Thanks for this beautiful thought and your labour of love doing it.

Friends, I've run into a snag, in terms of the scroll: I am advised by a printer here that it is not going to be possible to print our material onto a parchment scroll, as the maximum length available is around 0.8 metres, whereas the pages of our contributions will extend to almost 3 metres!

So, what I'm proposing is that I get the material made up into a nicely finished booklet (bound down the side) instead. This will be easy to do and if the right paper and binding etc. are chosen, it should look elegant enough, I expect.

Unless you have some other suggestion to get around the problem, this is the way I think I will have to proceed. Anyway, I'll await a response and if no feasible alternative is forthcoming, I'll go ahead with this second course of action.

Hi Andrew ~

With the selection of a beautiful paper and a beautiful cover, this excellent alternative will be every bit as beautiful as your original idea.

A book will also be something that Kay and the rest of Paul's family can hold in their hands, take anywhere in the house, sit or lie down comfortably and look at alone or together, and carry out of the house to share elsewhere, as well. I don't know if you have family reunions there as we do here, but something of that nature would be a valued sharing at one. In these ways, it seems fate may have even directed you to at least an equal, if not better, alternative.

Elizabeth and Dick, thanks for your comments of support for the alternative version!

I do think it has the potential to meet our requirements.

Cheers :)

The new format will be a perfect way to convey the feelings of the Forum and be a useful and handy item for the family to 'dip into' from time to time. A good idea Andrew. Thanks for your efforts, although we know you aren't looking for thanks.

Thanks Byron & Joe - I'll now proceed as suggested.

I will also try to capture the finished product in a photograph or two, along with the final version of the text. I really appreciate everyone's good will and encouragement - but then again, I guess I expected nothing less!

I know it's taken a while to achieve it, but finally Kay Galvin should now have Paul's finished 'In Memoriam' booklet!

I've attached a few photos of the finished booklet and you may view the whole content/text by going to this link in the LC Files: http://www.leonardcohenfiles.com/galvin.pdf

It has been a bit of a drawn out process, but I think we have now come up with a fitting tribute to Paul and one which Kay and her family can treasure. Thank you all for your contributions and patience throughout the process. I will certainly provide you with any response I get from Kay.

Dear Andrew ~

You did a wonderful job of pulling this together for us and getting all of our condolences into something Paul's family can hold, read, and share. Thank you so much for all your effort. It's beautiful.

Darby,

Thank you for doing this. The booklet is really beautiful, I found myself tearing up again seeing Paul's picture and remembering his warmth and kindness. You have captured something beautiful.

Thank you for the reassuring and kind feedback.

I just wanted to do something that we all could be happy with: that would appropriately honour this wonderful guy!
