Tony Palmer - director of the "Bird on a Wire" documentary film - was sorting out his archive the other day and came across some unmarked cans of film, and guess what?
They are the vidtronics (i.e. black and white film transfers) of the Stockholm and Albert Hall concerts of the 1972 famous tour. Now he has been working on the original tapes, and we are going to see the results in September this year:

It was only a few days ago that I watched the “Bird on the Wire”movie (again). The atmosphere of the movie and the live performances still are mesmerizing. This should be a very interesting DVD!

I just received this LC alert about Tony's old/new release -
https://www.broadwayworld.com/bwwmusic/ ... d-20180719
DVD featuring 71 minutes of previously unseen footage of 1972 tour shot by Tony Palmer and not included in Bird on a Wire film & 2CD set

CD1 - Best of Live Recordings by Tony Palmer at various venues.
Track List:
1. So Long, Marianne
2. You Know Who I Am
3. The Butcher
4. Famous Blue Raincoat
5. Story Of Isaac
6. Joan Of Arc
7. Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye
8. The Partisan
9. Suzanne
10. Seems So Long Ago, Nancy

Film Soundtrack CD & DVD Track List:
1: So Long, Marianne
2: Bird on a Wire
3: Hey, That's No Way to Say Goodbye
4: Famous Blue Raincoat
5: You know who I am
6: Joan of Arc
7: Chelsea Hotel (improvised)
8: Suzanne
9: Avalanche
10: Story of Isaac
11: The Dealer
12: Chelsea Hotel
13: The Butcher
14: We Shall Not be Moved
As far as I know the last song no 14. We Shall Not Be Moved was sung only at Amsterdam 15th April 1972 & Tel Aviv 19th April 1972 - at a guess, it's probably the latter here, but maybe there are more unlisted ones. The info on the DVD back cover lists Stockholm, Albert Hall and Paris for the concerts and "some previously unreleased sound recordings of his early masterpieces" - can't wait to hear those gems :D

The "improvised" Chelsea Hotel will be most interesting! Maybe it's CH #1 or some verses from it :)

The pre-order package looks wonderful, but I will have to wait and see if it will be offered within reach of our budget. I love Leonard's performances during the 70s, so I am very tempted, but at that price it will have to wait.
